Police in Odessa, Texas, report that eight people were killed and nearly 20 were injured in a shooting that began after a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.
Three officers are said to be among the wounded. Police shot and killed the suspect. The eighth person died Sunday morning in Midland, Texas. UPDATE 9:30 a.m.: What we know…
Two Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers attempted to stop a gold Honda for a traffic violation on Interstate Highway 20 near mile marker 131 at about 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Before stopping for the troopers, the driver reportedly pointed a rifle toward his rear window striking the patrol vehicle and one of the troopers. The shooter then fled the scene and began randomly shooting at people on the highway and city surface streets.
The shooter stole a USPS mail delivery van and dumped the Honda. He reportedly shot the USPS driver. The shooter continued his rampage before being cornered by multiple police officers at the rear of the Cinergy movie theater in Odessa.
Gunfire erupted at the Cinergy leaving the shooter dead and a Midland police officer and an Odessa police officer wounded.
By Sunday morning, the death toll rose to eight people, including the shooter. One person died Sunday morning in Midland. The shooting rampage left nearly 20 people injured.
Police have not yet identified the shooter or released any information about his motivation.
UPDATE 8:45 a.m. Sunday: The death toll in Saturday’s shooting rampage in Midland-Odessa climbed to eight overnight, NewsWest9 reports. This includes the shooter and a person who died Sunday morning at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Do you know that he was carrying ID? Or that the car he was originally driving was registered to him?
So he didn’t want to be busted with his illegal weapons and drugs I’m assuming and got into a shootout with police while driving.
Wonder how many cops accidentally shot a citizen or two during this chase tbh. They’d still be the “suspect’s” victims as he was the primary cause of any wounding or deaths.
Also why no name? Why is it that a Wal Mart nature lover who just happened to also like Trump’s stance on border security but have no value in human life can have his whole life and name out there..and on this, nothing?

Well I was born there and moved to Midland when I could.
Odessa is tough and rough.
Midland, In contrast, has the highest per capita income and education level in Texas and sometimes the USA.
Both very conservative, but night and day different.
It surprises me not at all the perp was gunned down the second he crossed into Midland.

NOW let’s use our brains: MAYBE he didn’t have:
a) any fingerprints on file in federal databases (searching individual state databases might take a few days
b) NO finger prints were obtainable FROM the deceased subject (HEY - if you can propose oddball scenarios SO CAN I)
c) DNA ID takes a little time.
Unfortunately, our society today makes it hard to disagree with the position.
This isn’t your average traffic stop shooter...apparently this one could think on the fly which means he probably had been in some action somewhere, enough to think that if he injured or killed random bystanders it would tempt responders to stop and render aid, giving him more time or a chance to slip away.

Yes, they are not coincidental. One shooting produces insane media coverage, which induces more shootings/ mass murder. The methods tend to be copied as well. More AR-15/ modern sporting rifle attacks after the media pushed that aspect.

It wasn’t the norm ...the infamous mass shootings were planned like art installations or theater for specific times and places by the killers where those murdered were slain for the glory of whatever demented cause; this was a reaction of a criminal or agent to getting pulled over so this was not theater... the victims weren’t shot to ‘make a point’ they were shot either because they were in the way or to slow pursuit.
Beat me to it. The shooter does not count in the death toll. The only thing good that came of this is that he is dead.
