ODESSA, Texas — UPDATE: ACTIVE SHOOTER REPORTED STAY INDOORS FOR BOTH cities
Police confirm a second shooter is in the areas driving a stolen mail van.
Officials are responding to an active shooter in Odessa.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the shooter is in all Gold Passenger car armed with a rifle and headed from Odessa to Midland.
Several people [now reporting 30 shot in Midland and Odessa] have been injured including police and civilians.
Were the officer (who pulled the coward over and was shot) and the victims hispanic?

I flipped it over to CNN for a few minutes. Couldn’t take their evil gun meme. They went all out on the lax changes in gun laws beginning Sept. 1. They want all guns banned.

This began at the south west city limits of Midland, TX on IH-20 at the 131 exit/Holliday Hill Rd. Midland and Odessa sort of merge into each other.
Texas Department of Public Safety facebook - “Today at approximately 3:13 p.m. (CST), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gold passenger vehicle on Interstate 20 westbound near mile marker 131. Prior to the vehicle coming to a complete stop, the male driver (and only occupant in the vehicle) pointed a rifle toward the rear window of his car and fired several shots toward the DPS patrol unit. The patrol unit was occupied by two Troopers, and one was hit by the gunfire. The suspect fled the scene and continued shooting innocent people, including a Midland police officer and an Odessa police officer.
The Trooper is in serious but stable condition, and the two other officers are in stable condition at a local hospital.
DPS initially provided and will continue to provide resources and support for this incident, including Troopers, Special Agents, Texas Rangers, multiple aircraft and our Major Crime Scene Unit.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional information will be released by DPS at this time. For information on victims of this shooting and any other questions, we would refer you to the Odessa Police Department.”

Probably because in spite of all his effort, the perp only managed to injure one person.
Given the location, some of the victims will undoubtedly be hispanic (and probably native Texans.) The mayor of Odessa is.
Police first thought there were two shooters because they were getting reports of shots being fired from two different vehicles in two adjacent cities.
Only later did they realize that the same perp had used one car, then ditched it and hijacked a mail van to continue his rampage.
So, two cities, two vehicles, but only one shooter.
There’s always confusion in the beginning. This was sorted out rather quickly.
My guess is someone transporting a large amount of drugs.
Shooting randomly at people to distract & get cops off his tail, perhaps?
