With more than five months to go before the first votes are cast in the 2020 presidential election, a majority of Democratic voters who express a preference for one of the candidates (63%) say they feel excited about several of the candidates currently vying for the partys nomination. Far fewer (35%) say they are enthused only by their first choice for the nomination.
A new survey finds that, in an open-ended question about their preferences for the partys presidential nomination, 26% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters name Joe Biden as their first choice, 16% name Elizabeth Warren, 12% favor Bernie Sanders, while 11% back Kamala Harris and 5% favor Buttigieg.
However, a quarter of Democrats do not express a preference for the nomination, according to the new survey by Pew Research Center, conducted July 22-Aug. 4 among 4,175 adults, including 1,757 Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters.
The survey finds wide differences among Democratic voters on whether they feel excited by several candidates or just their own top choice. About half of Sanders supporters (51%) say they are only enthusiastic about their first choice for the nomination and 45% of Biden supporters say the same.

What is VERY telling in this graphic, is how much of the black vote remains uncommitted. Further, of the committed black vote only 10% of it is for Harris; most the committed black vote is for Biden. Parenthetically, Buttigieg is polling zero percent of the black vote.
Another very telling element is that Warren is the favorite among very liberal Dems only - more than Sanders and predominantly among white ones at that. This means if that lot turns out bigly in the primaries and she's the nominee, I suspect many Dems stay home - GO WARREN!!

This graphic also lays out the strong and weak points very nicely - again, Warren is the darling of the white, college-educated religiously-unaffiliated crowd.
Attention committed black vote; the DNC wants to give ALL of your free stuff to the mojados coming over the border.
How is it possible to be a true conservative voter and, still, a registered Democrat?
Way too much political flux to make this poll little more than idle curiosity. Check back with me next April.
Two things struck me about this poll:
1) Harris is doing badly in nearly every category. Just as well. Besides being ineligible, she's a nasty, vengeful BITCH.
2) If you believe Christ is the Lord, how could you even consider voting for any of these baby killers?
Indeed.
As a said to a long time (NOT old) friend today:
"How can any true Christian vote for a Democrat in a national election?"
There is not one, not one, 2020 Democrat POTUS candidate that can beat POTUS, Donald J. Trump and become POTUS in 2020..period. You are 100% right...they are all losers. Joe Biden is the “village joker”. Obama’s “Lap Dog” buffoon. The rest need no mention...they are all “ZEROS” from A-Z!!!
When the true story about the historic, powerful, widely viewed, Iowa State Fair comes out and reveals the political failure via lack of attendance and excitement relative the Democrat Party group of sub-standard 2020 POTUS candidates, the American people and voters will understand...there is just nothing there that is close to being Presidential material.
Weak, POTUS, Obama did absolutely nothing, not one thing, to develop, nurture, effective, viable, capable 2020 POTUS candidates...period. Case closed!!!
I have a prediction. the demacrat party will have its worst voter turn out ever. I live in California .land of the fruits and nuts....four years ago all I could hear was excitement about hillery or sander from my libral friends this year there is no excitement and I think a year from now it will be the same. the problem is that the demacrat party is now known for identarian politics that might of been working 4 years ago is not today. being Authoritarian, being socialists along with the use of croney capitalism. unless we blow it I see the party actualy dyeing because of this....
PEW research sez it all, it stinks
I had to look up this word you used: identarian
Is it Identitarian?
I agree about the lack of enthusism but am concerned about ballot cheating. In my IA town we use a paper ballot and fill in the circles with a felt tip pen and the machine reads the ballots. A recount is easy.
yes it is sorry for the misspelling...makes it really confusing especially when looking up the word on google because they list it as being a far right term of thought.
Tulsi Gabbard kind of excites me.........that’s probably not what they mean, though.
