Trump’s Personal Assistant, Madeleine Westerhout, Steps Down
The New York Times ^ | 08/29/2019 | Annie Karni and Maggie Haberman

President Trump’s personal assistant, Madeleine Westerhout, whose office sits in front of the Oval Office and who has served as the president’s gatekeeper since Day 1 of his administration, resigned on Thursday, two people familiar with her exit said.

Ms. Westerhout’s abrupt and unexpected departure came after Mr. Trump learned on Thursday that she had indiscreetly shared details about his family and the Oval Office operations she was part of at a recent off-the-record dinner with reporters staying at hotels near Bedminster, N.J., during the president’s working vacation, according to one of the people, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss White House personnel issues...

Ms. Westerhout, a former Republican National Committee aide who also worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, reportedly cried on election night because she was upset over Mr. Trump’s victory. As such, the president at first viewed her warily, as a late convert to his cause who could not be trusted.

Seems like maybe what some said about the “nuke a hurricane” story was a purposeful plant to smoke out a leaker might be true.

I looked it over and it’s pretty rough. Perhaps an English teacher could do it, but good grief!

I don’t think they make glasses small enough for the little head.

All through history it’s been the small head leading the big head around and it’s always lead to disaster.

One thing that probably did work against him was the fact that his celebrity status and his past life as a wealthy playboy in NYC set him up so that he thought people who were his political enemies would continue to like him after he won as a republican. It did not work that way.

With the predatory press there can be no trust and nothing is off the record.

Hard to believe a secretary would influence Trump’s hiring decisions.

“Trump simply did not expect to win,...”

That’s a myth. I’ve known a few winners in my lifetime - they may not win as often as Donald Trump, but they win an awful lot. One thing for sure: they always think positive - they always expect to win.

This pervasive myth about Trump not expecting to win - or in some versions, not even wanting to win - this is usually a way for neverTrumpers to try and rationalize an outcome THEY did not expect, and that THEY did not want.

We can probably expect her insider “Tell All” book to hit the market right before the election, while she makes the promotional rounds on CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS/NBC.

Trump expected to win. he was changing into a whole new profession. He simply didn’t know anyone. He had to rely on others to for picking people. Whom ever did the picking did a poor job.
