Self-defense items, including brass knuckles and hard plastic kitty keychains, will be legal for Texans to carry starting September 1.
House Bill 446, which overturns the ban on brass knuckles, self-defense keychains, and clubs, was signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in May. It passed unanimously in both the House and the Senate.
It removed "knuckles" and "clubs" from a group of weapons banned by a previous law that was passed in 1918.

See now here we have a stupid law that boils down to me being able to defend myself with anything that ISNT blunt. Makes you wonder what the thought process is there, no?
Probably not as well. They’d tend to roll. These things are brutal. Knew a girl that carried a turned aluminum t-handle on her keychain.
One slap or swipe and theyre no longer sticking out.
I wonder if this means that the ASP baton and similar is also now legal. If it does, Im going to go pick up another one.
They are also being removed from the prohibited list.
“Screw the knuckles..thats way too close.”
Absolutely.
This is my “opening act.”

Act 2 will knock `em dead.

After the 2020 elections, and gun confiscation, the correct answer will be:
The only weapon allowed to be carried by law enforcement officers.
London police style night sticks were ruled too violent looking. Even painted with pink flowers. President Warren is so tough.
Because of its color it sounds fine.
And it's still better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
The bad guys who surround us do not follow any laws, weapon rules or waiting periods.
It aint a gun.
Or a pointy stick...
I’m afraid if it goes off in my pocket it will melt my boys. /s
Better be careful with the knucks. A round blackjack and brass knucks to the head can kill pretty easily. I always have a flat sap/slap at hand which is more than adequate protection.
In Arizona, you can conceal or open carry a 44 magnum if you want. But you cannot legally carry a sap. Makes sense to SOMEONE I guess.
Good for Texas!!
LOL
I’d rather have the 44!!
I live in NYC.
Like another FReeper said, it’s still better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
I’ll leave it at that.
Thanks for posting.
Is Constitutional Carry part of the new package of self-defense “allowables?”
Interesting, only a little more than the Fox 5.3.
Worth a look.
I caught some videos of guys testing out stun guns and mace.
All three said the mace was the real stopper, hands down.
They were actually playing with the stun gun on themselves and each other.
No way they were doing that with the mace and that brand is 2.2 million heat units.
The Fox 5.3 is as the name suggests it two and a half times hotter.
saw several videos of cops using it in training, most of them said they could barely even breath for a couple of minutes after getting hit with the Fox.
