Sexual Orientation Therapy Bans Are Just the Beginning

As a teenager, Nate Oyloe was attracted to other boys. Hoping to change his sexual attractions, he sought therapy.  Today he is happily married to a woman.  Most people would be glad that Nate has achieved the life he wanted.  But not everyone is.  Lawmakers in his home state of Minnesota recently passed a law banning the kind of therapy Nate received to help him overcome his unwanted same-sex attraction.

To date, twenty states and many cities have made it illegal to offer therapy for minors unless it affirms the LGBT agenda -- and several more are considering similar bans.  In these jurisdictions, therapists may help a child or teen accept same-sex attraction or a different gender identity, but they will not help a teen who aspires to change their same-sex attraction or sexual identity.  It is illegal even to ask questions to help a child explore underlying issues related to sexual orientation or gender identity.

And if the federal Equality Act is enacted, it will be illegal across all states.

The Equality Act has already been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and is now under consideration in the Senate.  If it passes, it would amend the Civil Rights Act to elevate sexual orientation and gender identity to protected classes, like race and religion.

The Equality Act uses the controversial term “conversion therapy” and as “a form of discrimination.”  That term is often used to refer to outdated forms of therapy such as electroshock or aversion therapy, techniques that used to be common for a variety of psychological issues, but have long been discontinued.

Today counseling offered to people like Nate is simply talk therapy, and the client is in control.  The goal is to help the client align his behavior with his own goals, values, and aspirations.  As Nate says, contrary to the picture painted by critics, “I was not coerced or abused -- I was honored and loved. I was given the power of choice and the dignity to think for myself.”

You also have these socially awkward kids who get on the internet and get surrounded by nameless entities that convince them they’re trans and then when their parents try to discourage it, their psychologist basically blackmails the parents with “if you don’t accept your trans kid, it will commit suicide.”

In our public education school systems were teaching kids all about LGBT and that it’s acceptable, and even OK to experiment. Yet to counter balance this with teaching about normal traditional relationships.... got to ban that.

Exactly what the left does not want - for anyone.

This will become a giant issue in the re-election. The left will seek to separate Christians from Trump (and any Republican candidates) if he supports a national equality act whose ultimate target will be Christianity. Hopefully President Trump seeks much guidance from some of the strong Christian men who have guided him so far. Christians love Trump but ultimately answer to someone higher.

This is the preferred method of the left for implementing it’s agenda. Make any dissention subject to prosecution.

A good friend of mine went through a painful divorce. He got custody of the two children because his wife had some “issues”. Despite his exwife constantly trying to be “disruptive”, everything went along OK for a few years. But when his now teen daughter had some conflicts with other girls at school she got very upset and told her mother she wished that she had been born a boy. It wasn't even a sexual thing to begin with; it was just normal teen-aged girl frustrations.

Her mom saw an opportunity to use this situation and took her to a LBGT activist counselor and everything got completely out of hand after that. The daughter found a way to get a massive amount of attention which is what she really wanted, they even have her a school assembly to tell the kids at the new school that she transferred to about her. This attention was at the expense of taking hormone therapy and becoming a pawn for LGBT activists to screw up other children's lives.

So what should have been just a minor blip in growing up turned into a major life changing event that has sent his daughter on a bizarre path. And of course she is now having severe psych problems which have included suicide attempts that were nearly successful even if they were meant more for attention. And almost without saying there are substance abuse problems as well. She went from a really nice little girl to a completely screwed up young woman.

I remain puzzled that I’ve not heard of strenuous legal challenges to conversion therapy bans.

Make no mistake, conversion therapy bans will be expanded to include parents mentoring their children.
