Sanders: China Has ‘Made More Progress’ Addressing Extreme Poverty Than Anyone Else
Breitbart ^ | 08/27/2019 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 08/28/2019 6:22:53 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

During an interview with the Hill released on Tuesday, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) stated that it is unfortunate that China is moving in a “more authoritarian” direction, but “they have made more progress in addressing extreme poverty than any country in the history of civilization.”

Sanders said, “I think China is a country that is moving, unfortunately, in a more authoritarian way, in a number of directions. We would have hoped that they would move toward a democratic –more democratic form of government. They’re moving in the opposite direction. And they are a country that vigorously protects their own interests, but what we have to say about China, in fairness to China and its leadership, is, if I’m not mistaken, they have made more progress in addressing extreme poverty than any country in the history of civilization.”

Sanders more proof Communism doesn’t work. China did improve on poverty when they became more Capitalistic.

Yes, folks he IS that stupid.
And the press continues to claim that Trump lies.
Journalism may not be the oldest profession, but it is most certainly the one populated by the lowest level of the population.

Oops, forgot about the NEA and congress.

It is certainly easier to kill off millions of people than it is to try to find them food. Right Bernie?

You can spin anything, can’t you.
It’s really just another way of saying that they started from really bad places. A lower floor means more potential for increase.
I am not suggesting that it’s not a good thing to improve your people’s quality of life. It just strikes me funny the lengths people go either one direction or the other to find a spin.

That's right Bernie.

The Chinese charge the poor with not thinking right, intern them in prisons, and unashamedly sell their organs on the open market. Nobody else has done that.

Yet.

You're just the type of guy to try and bring that here. Thanks, Bernie.

Is stripping the population’s humanity better than poverty?

I think Bernie’s version of poverty is having a cell phone over 2 years old and having to use free-wifi.

70,000 US factories shut down and moved to China is what cured their poverty problem.

Thanks to Mao they had more poverty than most anywhere else, so Sanders saying this is like Obama crowing about deficit reduction.

Socialists at the turn of the 20th: “We can make this work!”

Socialists during the middle 20th:

Choice 1: “We can’t make this work just yet though.”

Choice 2: “What’s a few thousand mass graves and slave camps compared to making it work?”

Socialist at the end of the 20th: “This wasn’t working.”

Exception, Venezuela: “Wheeeee! We’re a rich nation, so we can make this work!”

Socialists early in the 21st: “This time we can make this work, only with population replacement and political correctness. (Pay no attention to Venezuela behind the curtain)”

If Bernie was sharp enough to slice soft butter, he’d know that capitalism/free markets/economic liberalism — call it what you want — has done more to lift people out of poverty than anything else in human history. China was 200 years late to the game, but it started to show real progress once it accepted an increased role for market principles. The Stalinists who run China now are trying to see how far they can dial freedom back without killing the golden goose.

Socialism absolutely requires very authoritarian government. Calling it democratic socialism doesn’t change the fact that the government will need to be very authoritarian in order to redistribute wealth. People don’t like being forced by government—whether it’s by majority vote or not—to give up things they worked for so that others can get “free” stuff, but that’s exactly what Bernie’s selling.

“...they have made more progress in addressing extreme poverty than any country in the history of civilization.”

Ending extreme poverty happens when you eliminate the poor. If you get my drift.
