UK Government to ask Queen to suspend Parliament
BBC ^ | 08/28/2019 | BBC

The Queen will be asked by the government to suspend Parliament just days after MPs return to work in September - and only a few weeks before the Brexit deadline.

BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg says it will make way for Boris Johnson's new administration to hold a Queen's Speech - laying out the government's plans - on 14 October.

But it means MPs are unlikely to have time to pass any laws that could stop the prime minister taking the UK out of the EU without a deal on 31 October.

Tory backbencher and Remain campaigner Dominic Grieve called it "an outrageous act", and warned it could lead to a vote of no confidence in Mr Johnson, adding: "This government will come down."

But a No 10 source defended the move, saying: "It's time a new government and new PM set out a plan for the country after we leave the EU."

I first thought they were to finish their experiment with democracy and make it Queen, ministers and the serfs sort of thing.

I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place.

Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!

The anti-Brexiters are pulling out all stops to delay Brexit into 2020 and perhaps longer until they can wrangle enough power to crush the movement.

May the dreams of British patriots be realized amidst a shower of traitor's tears.

Be interesting to see how this plays out, supposedly the Queen is very pro-Brexit though some of the other members of the royal family are dead set against it. Most UK expert don’t see the Queen rejecting the request as typically these types of requests from the Prime Minister are simply rubber stamped by the Monarch, regardless of the Queen’s personal views on the matter.

There will inevitably be a legal challenge, and the action will shift to the courts, rapidly to the Supreme Court. British Governments are still subject to the law and accountable to the courts, fortunately.

This has been forecast as one of Johnson’s best methods of consolidation of his administration and of moving through the Brexit process without baggage and endless appendix since he ran for leader of his party.

Time to lock up the lawyers and judges that have worked to destroy England and the US. We both suffer from judicial tyranny. Lawyers control almost all facets of our lives. The judges act as mini-dictators, our legislative bodies consist mainly of lawyers, half the media are lawyers, and lawyers run corporations. Time to sideline them and allow the people to once again reign supreme.

I’m sure there is a judge in the 9th Circuit who will issue a restraining order...
(Yes, I know this is the UK and not the US, but why not?)

I don’t think so - before this, parliament was last suspended in 1600 I think by King James

British governments are and always were accountable only to the courts of the UK.
