Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) announced on Monday that he is resigning from Congress after being elected to his fifth term in 2018.
"After eight and a half years, the time has come for me to focus more on the reason we fight these battles family," Duffy said in a Facebook post.
Duffy who was first elected to represent Wisconsins 7th Congressional District during the Tea Party wave in 2010 said he will leave his seat on Sept. 23 after finding out his ninth child has a heart condition.
Recently, weve learned that our baby, due in late October, will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition. With much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby and family need right now. It is not an easy decision because I truly love being your Congressman but it is the right decision for my family, which is my first love and responsibility, he said in his post.

“How is his being unemployed going to help his child?”
Why do you assume he’ll be unemployed? I’ve never been unemployed. I’ve left various jobs, but I have never been unemployed.
Thanks, MplsSteve. Wish it were R+20!
Losing Ru Paul is a win.
Im so sorry to hear about the Duffy baby heath issues. However, 8 years is a respectable time to serve.
She is now pregnant with the 9th child.
I’m a Wisconsinite, but I don’t know enough about Duffy to address his positions. He’s not from my district and I can only follow so many politicians closely.
Having said that, I would vote for a loaf of moldy bread floating in the Milwaukee River, before I’d vote for current governor Tony Evers.
Congressmen can generally make multiples of their Congressional salary at law or lobbyist firms. Hes already a celeb so he doesnt need Congress to keep that status.
She filled in as an anchor for Fox & Friends frequently. He is also on frequently.
Both are really great people.
They’ve got a whole softball team!
Family is more important than the Swamp...Bless him, his wife, his kids and his newborn son...
Yep, I really like them.
Rachel would be a great FLOTUS (yes I know, I’m getting way ahead of myself, LOL)
Don’t let my name fool you born raised and back in Wisconsin...didn’t want to go through trouble of a name change.
Personally putting a side by side photo of Evers and a loaf floating in the MKE River it would be quite difficult to identify which is which.
Evers looks like he’s always about to pass away...weird vibe from the guy.
Amen to that. It’s what any true parent would do. I give him major kudo’s on this decision.
He was on a FOX show last night. Funny, I thought then he would hope on to FOX. I bet he does.
The current WI gov. is a Dem. Scuttlebutt is that his health is a question and he is only a one-termer.
Nutsw! Also, his wife is a reliable conservative. I would have much rather had her selected as the new Fox and Friends weekend anchor than Jedediah Bila.
“Having said that, I would vote for a loaf of moldy bread floating in the Milwaukee River, before Id vote for current governor Tony Evers.”
LOL! Sean would wipe the floor with Evers! Make it so! :)
He’s a favorite guest on AM1310 WIBA Conservative Thought Radio. And our ConservaBabe host does NOT suffer GOPe or RINO fools.
The advance was stopped cold with the election of Brian Hagedorn to Wisc. Supreme Court. They threw everything they had and GOPE abandoned Hagedorn. At one time spending was 14:1 in favor of Holder’s candidate Lisa Neubauer.
What won was GOTV especially up ‘nort. Rep. Duffy was a big part of that victory in April.
Since the beginning of the year a number of sleepy, get along go along, GOPE county chairs were replaced with people who are 1) committed to ground game 2) willing to go to the mattresses to counter Madistan and MKE 3) hold people accountable and 4) expect results and 5) have a mission. Mission is broken into three parts: Step 1 was to elect Brian Hagedorn Step 2 is to re-elect Judge Kelly in Spring 2020 Step 3 is to deliver a Wisconsin victory to the President. Simple. Direct. Urgent.
My wife had 10 brothers and sisters... Both mother-in-law and father-in-law missed the 100-year mark by just a few months... My wife was the youngest (she is now 80) and five older siblings are still above ground...
Anybody out there need some excess extended-family...
I agree.
I posted this on my FB page and of course, one person had to inject her strong dislike for him. She said he was on some reality show and was a doofus then and is still a doofus.
I didn’t even respond.
Appreciate your excellent and very informative post.
Sounds like all the necessary are in place to turn things around for a big GOP victory next year in Wisconsin, especially reelecting President Trump!
Thanks for sharing.
