Kentucky Fried Chicken® becomes the first national U.S. QSR (quick service restaurant) to introduce a plant-based chicken, in partnership with Beyond Meat®. Beyond Fried Chicken will make its debut August 27 in a limited test.
The new plant-based Beyond Fried Chicken offers the finger lickin' good fried chicken flavor only KFC can deliver as a perfect choice for those searching for plant-based meat options on-the-go.
Beyond Fried Chicken is available in nuggets with choice of favorite dipping sauce, like KFC's signature Finger Lickin' Good sauce, or boneless wings tossed in one of three delicious sauce options: Nashville Hot, Buffalo or Honey BBQ.
Those who want to be among the first to try the new plant-based Beyond Fried Chicken are invited to stop by the Cobb Parkway restaurant for a complimentary sample of Beyond Fried Chicken from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, August 27 (with purchase of any KFC menu item, while supplies last).
SNIP
A) It’s not a “QSR”, it’s a “fast food restaurant”.
B) It’s not “plant-based chicken”, it’s fake meat.
The carcinogens in red meat stuff is overblown. There's a lot of bad science in nutrition, and some if it designed to push people away from meat. Often for unrelated reasons, like saving the planet. That is really the point to this fake meat stuff. Red meat is not unhealthy and doesn't cause cancer.
As for the fake stuff, I didn't say it had no nutritional value. You are going to digest it and get something out of it. I said it had no health benefits. Read the labels. It's just more stuff you ought to be avoiding in a healthy diet in the first place.
By the Big Food/Big Pharma Complex.
The 1939 si-fi short story THE ULTIMATE CATALYST by John Tane(Eric Temple Bell) did it first, making fruits taste like meat. But there was a price to pay...
Now this is what I call, “Frankenfood”.
How much additives and flavorings and mystery chemicals do they have to add for it to have the taste and texture of meat?
Idiots!
It would soon evolve into being mandated. Would you be all for that? I’m not going to aid and abet this concept with my money, I will boycott everyone who even goes there. Burger King done... KFC done... Arbys here I come.
Beef price for...?
Beyond meat:
Water, Pea Protein Isolate*, Expeller-Pressed Canola Oil, Refined Coconut Oil, Rice Protein, Natural Flavors, Cocoa Butter, Mung Bean Protein, Methylcellulose, Potato Starch, Apple Extract, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Vinegar, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Sunflower Lecithin, Pomegranate Fruit Powder, Beet Juice Extract (for color)
Not going to happen...
The Canola Oil alone makes it a non-starter.
Absolutely, I will not entertain or support this trend.
The ones around us are just nasty- even our local wendy’s which i usually really like, I got sick as a dog 2 times i went there recently- Even our KFC is kinda gross- though more tolerable than burger king-
[[Calories: 630]]
Sheesh0 that’s a lot of calories for something supposed to be veggie-
Deep fried and smothered in sugary sauces. It doesnt have to taste like chicken or look like chicken. If you batter and deep fry asparagus and smother it in sugary sauces, you cant tell if its animal, vegetable or mineral. Itll taste like chicken.
I don’t like the idea of “fake” anything in the first place. How do you know that they won’t start slipping us those instead of real meat at some point. first beef, then chicken, what’s next? fish?
[[How do you know that they wont start slipping us those instead of real meat at some point.]]
Some people can tell the difference, so they couldn’t get away with slipping people fake junk- there would be lawsuits galore-
The “Green New Deal” bucket is
leaking. These fast food joints
are trying to get a jump on the
competition before all animal
based products are banned. It’s
to save the ever changing climate.
Consider this... This is all geared towards forced veganism and bait and switch on meat eaters. Who believes that a vegan even cares that a fake Hamburger tastes like a real hamburger? The idea of eating a hamburger is repulsive to them in the first place and most have no clue, or remember, what a hamburger even tastes like in the first place.
...burnt or charred meat may increase the risk of cancer.....
