KFC Leads As First National U.S. QSR To Test Plant-Based Chicken, In Partnership With Beyond Meat
PRNewsWire ^ | 08/26/19 | Staff

Kentucky Fried Chicken® becomes the first national U.S. QSR (quick service restaurant) to introduce a plant-based chicken, in partnership with Beyond Meat®. Beyond Fried Chicken™ will make its debut August 27 in a limited test.

The new plant-based Beyond Fried Chicken offers the finger lickin' good fried chicken flavor only KFC can deliver as a perfect choice for those searching for plant-based meat options on-the-go.

Beyond Fried Chicken is available in nuggets with choice of favorite dipping sauce, like KFC's signature Finger Lickin' Good sauce, or boneless wings tossed in one of three delicious sauce options: Nashville Hot, Buffalo or Honey BBQ.

Those who want to be among the first to try the new plant-based Beyond Fried Chicken are invited to stop by the Cobb Parkway restaurant for a complimentary sample of Beyond Fried Chicken from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, August 27 (with purchase of any KFC menu item, while supplies last).

If they really can replicate real meat taste etc. from plants, I am all for it. Somehow I doubt they can really do that.

So all of these QSR’s pushing plant based products vs meat or fowl, are they of course charging less for the finished plant based product than they do for actual animal flesh?

I can buy whole white meat chicken breasts the size of my forearms for $1.79 a pound.

What’s the price benefit?

[[If they really can replicate real meat taste etc. from plants, I am all for it. Somehow I doubt they can really do that.]]

Many are claiming it’s indistinguishable- they even had it on a show of the whalburgs where people couldn’t tell it was not real- but of course they coulda been trying to push the product-

lots of grocery stores are offering it now- it’s a little expensive right now- but I’d like to try it just once- I’n nowhere near a vegan, but I would consider cutting down on meat a Little Bit IF the taste of fake is close to real IF it’s healthier- -

It’s not the taste, it’s the nutritional value, sure it’s poison, but hey, at least it tastes good.

There is nothing healthier than good grass-finished beef, find a local butcher, instead of going to the grocery stores.

Gross. I’m vegan and I find Beyond Meat and Impossible Burger absolutely disgusting. I’ll stick to real plant food.

Burger King has done it!

The “Impossible Burger” is now here!

Tastes G R R R R E A T! (as Tony the Tiger would say)

My new “go to” burger at Burger King.

You won’t know it isn’t beef in this burger.

I would be too, except if they get to where they can do it, they will outlaw the raising of animals for food, and anyone who tries to continue the tradition will be attacked and brought in on animal cruelty charges, then there will be no call for domestic animals and the breeds will go extinct, and then the government and fakemeat company will work together to control the food supply so no one can independently produce what they want. We are already partway there. Once no one is eating cow then hunting will be banned until it is no longer popular. And once that is done the 2nd amendment will be targeted even more heavily and with fewer pro gun defenders. If we ever had a disaster requiring knowledge of animal breeding and husbandry that would all be gone.
