The Amazon is burning because the world eats so much meat
cnn ^

The vast majority of the fires have been set by loggers and ranchers to clear land for cattle. While this may be business as usual for Brazil's beef farmers, the rest of the world is looking on in horror.

Well, if the rest of the world doesn't like it they can buy the land and leave it ‘green’... Maybe Hollywood scolds can chip in some of the money they spend on yachts, mansions, and private jets to pay for it.

Bitchin’ Liberal ‘Elites’ can chip in too.. or all of 'em can shut up about it...

Besides the fact that ecosystems benefit from the re-fertilization from large animals both wild and domestic. Always has, always will.

‘BTW, saturated fat is not responsible for heart disease’

at best, that statement is highly questionable...

’ the villain is “inflammation” .... how to get inflamed? Eat lots of carbs, grains & vegetable seed oils.’

and Johns Hopkins says: “Whole foods, on the other hand, are anti-inflammatory. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts and fatty fish.”

whom to believe, so many decisions to make...

Make sure you get Omega-3 fatty acids as opposed to Omega-6

Salmon, Grass-Finished Beef are the best ways to make sure you get Omega-3s, Omega-6s are more inflammatory, so stay away from Vegetable Oils.

I use butter, instead of oil for cooking.

No, I meant veggies. 40 acres will grow enough veggies to feed many people for a year, but that same 40 acres won’t raise enough beef to feed many.

When you start figuring don’t forget that it all has to be raised on that 40 acres.

Even most of the so called “vegan” primate species actually eat meat protein also. One species cannot even ovulate and produce eggs for reproduction without eating some meat for a period to first activate the ovulation process.

We are biologically designed to eat meat.

If they could sell the logs easier, they wouldn’t have to burn them.

Snickers with Almonds are good. Almost as good as Mars bars.

Great, now I want some chocolate :P

‘We are biologically designed to eat meat.’

we are biologically designed to eat whatever nutrition is both available and sustaining...we are also biologically adaptable to whatever nutrition we consume; it is when sudden changes in diet occurs that we have issues...the Omega-6 fats that someone brought up being a good example of this, as only in the last century has processing allowed the commercially feasible production of these oils, and our systems are not adapted to this intake...but in point of fact, what few definitive studies have been done on Omega-6 oils indicates that lineolic acid, the most common Omega-6 (think extra virgin olive oil), does not increase inflammatory markers at all...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Only ONE example of many ... I just posted one of the first I found when I ‘ducked’ (instead of google).

Title: Saturated fat does not clog the arteries: coronary heart disease is a chronic inflammatory condition, the risk of which can be effectively reduced from healthy lifestyle interventions

https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/51/15/1111

Coronary artery disease pathogenesis and treatment urgently requires a paradigm shift. Despite popular belief among doctors and the public, the conceptual model of dietary saturated fat clogging a pipe is just plain wrong. A landmark systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies showed no association between saturated fat consumption and (1) all-cause mortality, (2) coronary heart disease (CHD), (3) CHD mortality, (4) ischaemic stroke or (5) type 2 diabetes in healthy adults.1 Similarly in the secondary prevention of CHD there is no benefit from reduced fat, including saturated fat, on myocardial infarction, cardiovascular or all-cause mortality.2 It is instructive to note that in an angiographic study of postmenopausal women with CHD, greater intake of saturated fat was associated with less progression of atherosclerosis whereas carbohydrate and polyunsaturated fat intake were associated with greater progression.3

I agree with the low carb, high protein and fat diet as a way to stay healthy, lose weight, reduce chances for diabetes and lower your bad cholesterol. It has worked for me.

But make sure folks know that it is the "processed carbs" and refined sugars that are the problem, not simple carbs.

Any breads, cakes, cookies, pretzels, pasta, anything that is made from already processed wheat or corn is the villain. Simple carbs like fresh green, leafy vegetables, basically salad stuff, is not bad for you.

Simple carbs are not pre-processed before you eat them and your body still has to process them after you consume them. Processed carbs are already pre-processed before you eat them and they are converted straight to glucose or sugar after you consume them.

Eating proteins and fats is not why we get fat. We get fat from eating too many processed carbs which are converted to sugar for your body to burn for your daily activities. If you don't burn them with 24-48 hours, your body converts excess to fat and stores it in the places you get chubby.

Eating more proteins and fats and no processed carbs, forces your body to seek other sources of energy. It draws on your body's fat reserves to burn for energy. That is why you lose body weight. You're in ketosis and burning your own excess fat off you body.

Thanks for bringing this subject up so folks who may not know the details of changing their way of eating, can understand and maybe start eating a different way.

Very recently a tribe living in the Amazon won a large lawsuit against oil companies who wanted to drill there. Maybe two weeks ago. So the implication on other social media is that the oil companies set these fires as punishment and the left is running wild with it.

We are omnivores as a fact, But over millions of years we have evolved to eat meat as a primary staple. Our guts have physically changed to accommodate this fact from other primates. And our brains physically increased in size because of meat and our brain now depends on meat to get proper fuel and maintain this unique feature of Hominids.
