Trumpus Magnimus KNOWS that using this word electrifies and amplifies his words about China

I'm thinking that President Trump knows that Xi CAN order China to do anything, so he's using that word in parallel even if he doesn't have the authority.

It's a power posturing move. Now the Democrats and the MSM can take China's side against America in the run-up to 2020 if they quibble over Trump's use of the word "order."

Do you REALLY think the democratic controlled propaganda machines would allow this?

Great post. Now, if Trump would only switch to Gab or Minds.com and use them exclusively, he could force everyone else to get accounts, mainstreaming them on an almost immediate basis.

“companies are under no legal obligation to follow these orders”

Trump has unlimited power to impose tariffs on their products.

I think “order” is artful language in this case (except for the inspection of shipments for fentanyl, that he can direct). By using “order” he puts everyone protesting that he can’t “order” them to do do anything to place themselves on the side of China...and defend doing their manufacturing in China when most people in America believe that is not in our best interests.

By using extreme language, he forces opponents, in this case the mega-huge multinationals (already unpopular or at least suspicious, to use an equally dramatic response...which puts them squarely on the side of China. Not a good place to be.

“He needs to stop doing things like that.”

Why? Comments like these will make Powell cave or resign. Either way Trump wins.

If people knew how much industrial espionage and patent theft the Chinese do every day, they would call for mass deportations.

Can anybody imagine China’s Xi telling all Chinese businesses to stop doing business with America? Xi can’t, Trump just did.

People I know who have died of OD were fed this poison intentionally and unwittingly.

Two months ago my 79 year old mother was overdosed on Fentanyl. She was post lung lobectomy surgery and went to a nursing center for rehab. Was given a Fentanyl patch by a visiting physician who thought she was there for hospice. She was also given several other drugs during the same 24 hour period. She went into respiratory failure and was sent back to the hospital where she died within a week.

Nothing will bring my mother back but I am suing the living shit out of everybody. I am also going to find out if I can sue the manufacturer of the patch.

far as I know, the President can’t order companies around like that. No president can because we are not a dictatorship. Maybe I’m wrong and someone can point to the law that enables a president to do this.

On purely domestic transactions you are probably right. But I suspect that with regard to imports from foreign nations, the President can do this. The Executive has great power over foreign relations and national defense in the Constitution.

It was rhetorical. Jeez, he can order them but the question is will they will listen.

Indeed Jim, and to those folks who believe America’s trade policy prohibits America from demanding that companies uncouple from China, isn’t that exactly what we did at the advent of WWII? Or do they believe we continued trading with Tojo & Hitler?
