Barr can't pass the buck on Epstein
CNN ^ | Aug 13 2019 | Elie Honig

When Attorney General William Barr said he was "appalled" and "angry" after Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, you'd almost have thought Barr himself bore no responsibility. He spoke of "serious irregularities" and "demanded" an investigation -- as if he were some outside observer incapable of simply ordering an investigation himself.

Listening to him pour fire and brimstone on the rank-and-file who run the jail, you almost have to wonder: Has Barr taken a look at his org chart recently? Because the Metropolitan Correctional Center is part of the Bureau of Prisons, which is part of the Justice Department, which Barr runs.

He is responsible for all of it. This happened in Barr's house. He doesn't get to stand outside, wag his finger, roll the blame downhill and call it a day.

I’m certainly no fan of CNN. AG Barr knew of the first incident and did not act. As a favorite author once wrote, “Not to act is to act!” I’m in complete agreement. Barr is responsible for this fiasco. If the job is too big for him, he needs to step aside.

Or maybe you’re right. What do I know? That’s just how i see it.

And I’m certainly not gonna go back and forth with someone whose posts are great and adds a lot to the board over ONE issue.

He’s dead now so I guess it doesn’t really matter anyway :)

Yeah, instead of getting upset Barr should have just said, “I only learned about it by reading it in the paper this morning.”

CNN was always fine with that line when Oblame-O was top of the organization chart.

No attack here. Barr had someone as notorious as Al Capone under the DOJ's watch. If epstein really did have the goods on so many politicians and captains of industry, Barr should have personally ordered extra security for the creep and kept daily tabs. Yes, landing a fish that big requires extra vigilance and Barr failed miserably.

And I don't see it as mere incompetence on Barr's part. When you list out how the system failed at every juncture, it sure smells like a hit - complete with bogus autopsy - and the AG looking the other way as it all went down.

The rule of law is dead in America. The corruption of the government is complete.

And it’s heartbreaking.

Ah, it’s always been that way for the powerful.

Ted Kennedy. I think Hearst supposedly shot and killed some hollwyood producer back in the day and got cover.

It just seems SO MUCH more blatant this time around and disgusting because of the child porn part.

Ah I’m depressed now.

At least epstein’s dead.

OF COURSE they could still pursue this case with some of the others in the know.

But they wont

Getting rid of Epstein only solved half the problem. Now they MUST get rid of Barr. It is their only way out.

I guess I don’t get your point. Are you saying Obama didn’t deserve to be held accountable? Or that Barr shouldn’t be held accountable for his blunder with Epstein (or corruption?) because CNN didn’t hold Obama accountable for his stuff?

Either accountability is important or it isn’t, and the answer doesn’t lie with how CNN treats its favorite politicians. As conservatives, we should have the same standards for all pols and bureaucrats, whatever party.

I’m not a prisoner of CNN’s bias or skewed news standards.

The fact that CNN gave Holder a pass on bad stuff doesn’t mean I have to give Barr a pass on his incompetence/stupidity/corruption (take your pick) that allowed Epstein’s death.

You are absolutely right about Barr and one thing he could do to assuage such assumptions would be arrest this Maxwell woman. Notice he is not doing that.

Funny, CNN didn’t have this level of concern when Obama “

CNN is many things, most of them bad.

Barr is still ultimately to blame that Epstein was allowed to die.

If Hillary is better off because Epstein was silenced, then she has Barr to thank, because Barr didn’t make it his personal priority to keep Epstein alive. Barr is either incompetent or corrupt, IMO. Either way he should be fired.
