Buying Greenland isn't a good idea — it's a great idea

The reaction to President Trump's sudden interest in buying Greenland from Denmark has been mostly one of derision. And Denmark, which owns the territory, appears to oppose any sale.
But don't laugh an American purchase of Greenland could represent an extraordinary deal in terms of America's national security, economic interests, and environmental protection.
As much as it might seem out of the blue, U.S. acquisition of Greenland is not at all a strange or irrational idea. Following Denmark's fall to Nazi Germany in 1940, American forces defended Greenland. The roots of American-Greenland comradeship are thus old and formal. In 1946, one Harry S. Truman even attempted to purchase Greenland for $100 million. Was Truman crazy? On the contrary, he was the president who ended a global war and set America on its ultimate course to defeat the Soviet Union.

Some examples around here prove the radical left as correct about conservatives. Why do we keep giving them the very reference examples they need? It’s not too wise at all and sometimes I wonder if these folks are plants to make us look bad with this ignorance.

Other presidents were mocked for proposing the Louisiana Purchase and the Alaska Purchase.

Let`s trade California for Greenland-
Then the Danes could transform the whole state into one gigantic Solvang cookie.

Considering the value of Greenland, residents should be offered far more $100,000. They could, and should, turn that down.

In 1940, American troops took control of Greenland, with boots on the ground, while Denmark was overrun with Nazis. We couldn’t risk the Nazis getting Greenland, too. The Danes could not successfully protect their own country, how could they protect Greenland???
In 1946 Truman should have told Denmark we were keeping it.
They could name their price, and we’d be the ones deciding whether we’d pay.
We just rescued them from the goddamn Nazis, for crying out loud!

At least the Danes did a good job of keeping their Jews safe from the Nazis, it’s well-documented.

When was the last time you saw a country get sold? Last I looked that pretty much ended in the 19th century.

Still dumb!

Your reasoning powers leave a lot to be desired.
Puerto Ricans are not the biggest reason that Florida might get flipped. Haven't you notices that, most people moving to Florida are coming from NY and Michigan and N. Jersey and other liberal states? I know because I see them everywhere around Tampa.
Then, giving P.R. back to Spain? Or trading it for Greenland? Or just giving it up and letting it go? Still utterly stupid no matter what option you choose.

Your reasoning powers leave a lot to be desired. OK, Brilliant one. Give me the top 5 benefits we get from PR. And compare that to the money we send for social programs. Just the facts, if you know what a fact is.
And you underestimate the number of 'Ricans who moved to Florida after the last hurricane and will vote in 2020.

Ok, dumb one.
Why don't you tell me the top 5 benefits we get from Hawaii. Or from California. Or from NY. Of course remembering that, if they didn't exist, we could derive 'their benefits' from whatever other states remain.
BTW, I fought for this U.S. in a war. And through the decades and to current days, P.R. has contributed hundreds of thousands of military personnel, and no doubt, thousands of lives lost. Guess we are good for something, don't you think? But, I wouldn't give up my life nor any of my fellow P.R. people's lives to save your ass specifically. Bigots like you don't deserve to even be on the same planet as 'us'. You bring out the worst in people, and I don't or think ill of anybody, but, I'll make an exception for YOU.
And you underestimate the number of 'Ricans who moved to Florida after the last hurricane and will vote in 2020.
Neither you nor I know the exact number that move to Florida two years ago, and neither one of us knows how many stayed or left, but, my understanding is that, most of them went back to their homes in P.R. Apparently, you only heard part of the story. And, when it came to the actual election, reports were/are that, most of those 'temporary' Floridians from P.R. either didn't vote or voted for Trump and others on the republican side. Puerto Ricans on the island only know how to vote a certain way, because, their livelihoods, as miserable as they were, depended on voting a certain way.
FACT is that, most people in P.R. are sick and tired of the politics and misery brought upon them by democrats, and you should have seen some proof of that with the riots that replaced the governor there last month. Hopefully, that's the beginning of a better life for most "'Ricans" (like you put it).
So, why do you insist on talking complete nonsense about things that you have no knowledge about, other than that perhaps P.R. has been dependent on the U.S. for a lot of it's assistance. When you are left hopeless by the stupidity of the mainland 'masters', then, you might not have many other options. Ever think of that?

Yeah, right. PR is a welfare state
I will ask you again, what are the 5 best things PR contributes to the US? You gave one - soldiers who want to escape their beautiful, but sh!thole land. Without US dollars they would be Haiti.

The welfare state is a creation of the democrats. And democrats made sure that P.R. remained so. Just like they've been doing with a great percentage of the U.s. population. So, what would you do with the many millions on welfare and dependents on government largess in the rest of the U.S. Give them away to, perhaps, Mexico? What the democrats wrought, we have to fix, and fixing does not mean being in denial and looking for easy answers, like, abandoning a whole country or a whole people.
