last year, Louisiana was the only state in the nation to lose jobs...
That should be a good point to drive home for the R running against him.
This guy sounds like a fustercluck of the highest degree.
He is, but every member of the teacher’s union and every deadhead state employee is 100% on his side. And that’s a bunch of voters.
I can’t imagine voting in lockstep with others on the orders of a cynical, overpaid lesbian leftist in NYC or DC who lives high on the hog courtesy of union dues but the teachers do it every election.
And these are so-called educators.
I was disappointed the author didn’t identify who Edwards’ opponent might be.
That union has GOT to be busted up. These people, who often are otherwise decent, vote exclusively their self-interest. It matters not what the other issues are.
Indeed! Just google "Randi Weingarten salary" and you will find she makes well over $400,000 plus benefits and perks.
And that’s where democracy runs into trouble.
When hordes of people start voting to get THINGS.
More money, free money, food etc.
Union stooges seem to think that losing a game means they should change the referee (president) rather than their own head coach (Weingarten).
Without realizing it they only confirm that they want a rigged game.
With respect, I don’t even think self-interest enters the picture.
I had dozens of teacher friends/family foaming at the mouth about Betsy DeVos overnight...most of them had no idea who she was.
Similarly, I asked coal miners in 2008 if they were voting for radical greenie Obama and his anti-coal madness. They meekly nodded yes because the UMWA said so. Then the layoffs began.
Teachers moan about curriculum and claim to be opposed to LGBT propaganda but all they do is guarantee more of the same with their mindless voting patterns.
However, they do serve as a model for the pols who want the illegal vote. Herd them all into the same pen.
I get to be around teacher types for a couple of hours every month. I go to the local school board meetings and write about it in my newsblog.
They are EXPERTS at manipulating public opinion in their favor because “it’s for the children.”
The emotional blackmail is what makes the government school cartel so tough to crack...along with otherwise sane suburbanite teachers who lose their minds. The sad violin music never changes when school levies are proposed...
The two frontrunner Rep’s are Eddie Rispone and Ralph Abraham, both very capable.
“He is, but every member of the teachers union and every deadhead state employee is 100% on his side. And thats a bunch of voters.”
1. Teacher’s union has very little or no power in the state of Louisiana.
2. There are not enough democrat voting teachers to swing any election in Louisiana. He gave the teachers a $1,000 pay raise lately, their first in about eight years. They should be sufficiently insulted to vote against him. The “dead head” state employees will still have a job no matter who wins.
3. Edwards won because not many people voted in such a nasty election. Trump got more votes than Vitter and Edwards got combined.
4. The media are firmly in the tank for Edwards and censor any bad news about him, such as this article.
“The two frontrunner Reps are Eddie Rispone and Ralph Abraham, both very capable.”
Thank you. It sounds like it will be a race worth following.
The teacher’s union has plenty of power. Legislators are scared spitless of them. They put Bel Edwards in office.
I was disappointed the author didnt identify who Edwards opponent might be.
I was, too. It was a perfect opportunity to float a name of someone.
Public Unions should be outlawed. I expect some flack for this. These unions are a direct conflict of interest to the taxpayers. Louisiana is solid Repub, yet the Unions swing to the Dems.
Governors dont follow the same political direction. I was shocked to see a democrat governor in Louisiana as I was to see a republican in Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut and Vermont. Doesnt make any sense.
