A Penn Township couple alleges that a porch party was disrupted Saturday by a neighbor hitting their backyard fence with an aluminum baseball bat as she yelled threatening racial epithets toward the gathering, township police said.
Beth D. Knapp, 50, of Nancy Drive was charged with ethnic intimidation, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct by township police after the 10:54 p.m. incident. The complaints were served on Knapp via mailed summons by Harrison City District Judge Helen Kistlers office.
Patrolman Thomas Seefeld said the male victim who hosted the porch party is black.
Seefeld reported in court documents that the couple were on the back deck with family and friends when a white female began striking their wooden fence with a baseball bat while yelling racial slurs.

Once again we see how quick the media is to use skin color in article when its white against black. Had it been reversed, we would have never even heard this story in any way, shape or form.
hope she requests a jury trial, if possible.
I think they will do anything possible to keep this away from the jury, including up to threatening to seek the death penalty.
I can play musical tit-for tat with any neighbor trying to assume ranking position on the decibel scale. I’ll just wheel out my four big 100-watt Kenwoods and point them at the neighbor’s house. Throw on a some Led Zeppelin...or a little Barry Manilow...they’ll turn their volume down. I’ll never say a word to them, never pay a visit, but give’em until 10pm...then it’s Katie bar the door.
Depends on the cops. Some places don’t have noise ordinances. Sometimes cops won’t go into certain neighborhoods unless there’s a dead body.
We have noise ordinances, but they mostly don’t apply until after 10pm.............
Ethnic intimidation at porch parties is just sort of how Pittsburgh has always rolled.
“Hey, Yinz stupid Pollocks, dontcha know yinz has got yer music cranked-up too loud n’at?”
“Ahh, mind yer own bizness, ya drunk Irish jagoff n’at!”
Something like that.
I believe that all US citizens should be fed “chill pills”, by force if necessary.
Oh, and all race baiting individuals, those concerned about color, vshould he
I remember when the Mexican family next door had a big blowout. They were smart enough to invite us too.
The pozole was incredible.
I was in a bar with my uncle once when a black co-worker of his came in.
The guy looked at my uncle and said “Howya doin’, you little Irish leprechaun p***k?”
To which my uncle responded with a comment similar to the one that ended Roseanne’s TV career.
The guy came over, gave him a Dutch rub on the head, they embraced, laughed, and proceeded to enjoy many beers together.
Sometimes nobody really means anything by it.
Once, just once, I played Jesus Lizard Goat on repeat for a couple hours while he had guests for drinks on the back deck.
No more of his cappy music.
*dicking
Our county didn’t have a noise ordinance until a few years ago. Some New Jersey assholes bought a small farm that butts up to my back yard.
They started having rock concerts basically in my back yard. My windows vibrated and the silverware would dance on the table.
This would go on Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 a.m., nothing the law could do because no noise ordinance.
The Board of Supervisors were finally pressured into passing a noise ordinance. They unanimously passed a noise ordinance without citizen imput, no citizen commentary allowed.
The ordinance does stipulate a 10 p.m. end time. The neighbors regularly keep the music going until midnight then start the stereo until around 3 a.m.
The noise level stipulated in the ordinance is a paltry 95 decibels.
My windows still shake and my silverware still dances.
This summer they have been quiet, only one show that was over by 8 p.m. and was strangely quiet.
Then it dawned on me.
This is an election year and the Supervisor for our district is being challenged by a man who lives in our neighborhood.
Could get interesting.
I think it officially ended about six years ago when that white girl attending a mostly black party got accused of hitting on a black guy who was boyfriend to another black girl there.
The black girl demanded he prove his loyalty by taking care of the situation and he marched the white girl out to one of those long cement staircases where she was ordered to strip naked. He then shot her point blank in the back of the head and pushed her down the staircase.
He got off with jail time, as I recall. The girl, I think, got off with probation because she didn't specify the method. We palefaces need to learn that some animals are just more equal than others.
Same here!
Admittedly, my neighborhood is a nicely middle class, but the folks across the street invited us; ate good food, drank lots of beer, made friends, couldn’t care less if they were playing music a bit late.
Revenge is sweet.
I play well with others as long as they leave me alone.
“”ethnic intimidation””
Here we go - we’re on our way...every day, something new!
We still don’t have a noise ordinance. A resort went in at the end of the block and our windows rattle just like yours. Half the houses have turned into weekend rentals and they add to the drunk party noise. I used to love the peace and quiet but no more.
Get on the new guy’s campaign!
Maybe this woman was just performing an ancient ritual where she screamed out to HER ancestors, while playing a coordinating drum rhythm. It just happened to be on her back fence.
Is there a recording of her? Is it their word, against hers?
Maybe SHE is the one being *intimidated*.
The new guy is campaigning hard. He has been to every home in the District at least twice. Each time his pitch has gotten sharper and more to the point.
After his first round of visits he knew what each area of the district wanted and he refined his campaign to address issues in each of the areas of the district with commonsense solutions.
On the other hand the incumbents campaign consists of “I’ve been in office for 7 terms, what could a new guy do for you?”.
When he visited me I asked him questions about several laws he had voted for. He couldn’t answer one of the questions without babbling and resorting to “I’ll have to look into that”.
He’s running scared.
