More than 80,000 people have signed a petition urging the city of New York to rename a portion of Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue — a stretch that includes Trump Tower — after former President Barack Obama.
If the petition is successful, Trump Tower, the heart of President Donald Trump’s real estate empire and where he maintains a residence, will boast a new address: 725 President Barack H. Obama Ave.

The name of Sixth Avenue was changed to Avenue of the Americas in 1945.
I never knew a New Yorker who called it that, not even once.
Fifth Avenue between 59th and 34th is one of the world’s most well-known shopping streets. Renaming part of it there would be like renaming Knightsbridge, or the Champs-Elysees.
It is not going to happen.

This is a moveon.org petition. Most of the signers probably aren’t New York tiy residents. What city would change the name of a street because of a petition by nonresidents? Well, I guess New York under De Blasio might.
