FULL TITLE: Googles decision to develop military AI in China is one giant middle finger to the United States: Peter Thiel
(NationalSentinel) A decision by Google to end a contract with the Pentagon to develop artificial intelligence while deciding instead to build an AI campus in China is a massive slap in the face to the U.S., where the corporation is based, and a potential national security threat to America, according to one of Silicon Valleys few conservatives.
In a recent op-ed, Paypal co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Peter Thiel made it clear that AI is being developed for military purposes primarily, and that it is a game-changer in terms of providing countries with hyper-advanced mil-tech.
But while U.S. corporations used to make business decisions that were also good for the country, Google isnt interested in doing that and in fact appears to be consciously siding with a potential adversary.
The Silicon Valley attitude sometimes called cosmopolitanism is probably better understood as an extreme strain of parochialism, that of fortunate enclaves isolated from the problems of other places and incurious about them, he writes. In the 1950s, the cliché was that whats good for General Motors is good for the country. Google makes no such claim for itself; it would be too obviously false, Thiel added.

Treason
I’m wondering if this would fall under ITAR regulations.
Thanks for your input on that.
Appreciate hearing the alternative view.
Bump
Google needs to be prosecuted for massive ITAR violations and fined out of existence. If DOJ can break up Ma Bell, they can damned sure break up Google.
Nevermind. None of that will happen. Carry on Google. Empower our enemas. Everyone else is.
No, it's high time to bring back the [public] firing squad as legal punishment for traitors...
Last night I gave you a pass on this. I shouldnt have.
Were talking Military AI and that means Google is happy to help China by giving it military advantage purposefully.
No, thats wrong and should get its decision makers in a lot of trouble.
This is the actions of a traitor.
many at the USPTO and deep state WANT to give
US technology to foreign gov’ts and sell it
to corporations, stealing it from the
original inventors/filers.
going on for a long time.
NO ONE in the DOJ, the courts, or Congress cared(s).
Orin Hatch proposed giving our entire patent database to the Chinese in the 90s. At the time that seemed so incredibly ignorant.
Then I found out that to do business in China, you have to give them your processes and proprietary information.
In essence, we have gifted China with technical information that propelled it forward 75 years in twenty.
We have also finances it’s military, and it’s ability to be a domestic and international threat to human life.
I agree with your take on it. It makes me angry. I limit my time thinking about it, it’s such a waste of energy.
Anti trust division of DOJ needs to bust them up.
There has to be some tech transfer ITAR laws being broken by Google with this AI stuff...
