I never thought of him as a hero.
I thought of him as a junkie trying to use drugs to make himself Greg Lemonde.

What is VP Pence or ANY conservative doing hanging around Nantucket?

************

Pence was on Nantucket to attend a fund-raiser hosted by Ronna McDaniel,
the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, among others. The
event was to benefit the RNC and President Trump’s re-election campaign....

They also had other events for the Weekend. I think Armstrong was
there as a part of that.

Had he just won a couple of TDF’s and then ‘retired’ he would have been still a ‘hero’, but he had to get greedy........

Off of drugs he can beat an old white guy. That is some accomplishment.

What is it with the Dems and their claims of physical dominance lately? Biden and Beto want to do push ups. Corey wants to get all jacked and start a fight. Now Lance is thrilled that he passed Pence—like it was a contest.

We are in a world of folks who peaked in high school.

Did we ever have Stevenson suggest he could whip Ike’s ass? Or JFK challenge Nixon to a yacht race?

Excuses!! Excuses!!

Ok, I will concede one has to go where the money is to raise money and yes, EVERY visitor/resident to Nantucket isn’t a ‘Kennedy Lib’

BUT

Again, while realizing that a city (New York/Chicago etc etc) gets to host a say GOP convention, it is still ‘shameful’ that ‘we’ spend millions of dollars going there.

Yes, I know the Motel Six etal can’t handle a convention in East Podunk MT but at least it is a ‘Conservative town’...

Phamstrong didn't just dope, he was the chief of an international crime syndicate, the boss of all bosses, il capo di tutti capi.

There simply is no way to run a doping program for a professional bicycle roadracing team without also engaging in international drug smuggling, distributing pharmaceuticals without license and practicing medicine without license.

For good measure, there is ample evidence (which André Birotte Jr. of Obama's DOJ declined without explanation to act on) he also was involved in embezzlement, money laundering, perjury, suborning perjury, witness tampering, witness intimidation, and bribery of sports officials.

And contrary to what is widely believed, his cancer charity WAS NOT contributing to cancer-fighting research. All he spent the half BILLION or so USD he raised in contributions -- and which might otherwise have found its way to LEGITIMATE charities -- was "cancer awareness." He spent millions on a private jet so he could fly around the country and meet fawning sycophantic fans who paid $1000 (& up) to get to ride with him for a few miles, which he wrote off to "raising cancer awareness."

As if there's someone on the planet who isn't already "aware" of cancer.

And the blood values he posted online during his 2009-2011 "comeback" inadvertently proved he was still doping. And he to this day remains completely defiant and impenitent.

"... If they were all doing it...."

Another of the Pharmstrong myths.

In doping in general but especially blood vector doping, there is no "equal," no "level playing field" because there are "high responders" and "low responders" and Phamstrong was one of the former, in no small part because his natural physiology was so ...unremarkable.

His natural hematocrit was 37-38, which was 15-20% lower than some of his competitors. And Hct goes directly to VO2Max and you don't win the Tour de France unless your VO2Max is in the top 10% of the field.

Greg Lemond publicly mocked Pharmstrong for his mediocre "pre-cancer" VO2Max numbers because he (Lemond) had the highest natural VO2Max ever recorded to that point, and he knew that Pharstrong's weak pre-cancer test results proved he would never have become competitive apart from doping.

Sounds like Lance would be a perfect left wing congressit:

“I was an Armstrong fan as well; he brought a lot of excitement to the sport and he did good for cancer. But no longer; he turns out to have been a cheap, bullying poseur, a liar, a cheat and he became quite wealthy “doing it”. But he’s not a seven time Tour champion; there is no declared winner for those years; kind of like Venice where each duke has a portrait in the Grand Hall - one has been covered with a drape for 500 years bc he disgraced Venice.”

Oh, I forgot one, ...conspiracy to commit all the above, which is perhaps the most significant because it exposes him to prosecution under the RICO statutes.

"Armstrong and Pence have the same number of Tour de France championships"

Pence doesn't have seven yellow jerseys hanging on livingroom the wall and $125 million in the bank, both given him by the ASO (the organization that runs the TdF).

Pharmstrong does.

For a disgraced high school dropout athlete with abandonment issues, he's done pretty well for himself.
