CONCORD, N.H. Gov. Chris Sununu on Friday vetoed three bills that advocates said would have added commonsense protections for Granite Staters against gun violence but opponents said would have done nothing to stop mass shootings and would have infringed on the constitutional rights of citizens.
Sununu vetoed House 109, which closes the so-called gun show loophole and requires background checks for virtually all commercial firearms sales or transfers; House Bill 514, which requires a three-day waiting period before the purchase and delivery of a firearm; and House Bill 564, which prohibits carrying a firearm on school property.
New Hampshire is one of the safest states in the nation, and we have a long and proud tradition of responsible firearm ownership. Our laws are well-crafted and fit our culture of responsible gun ownership and individual freedom, Sununu wrote in a single veto message on all three bills.

Great job by the Governor. Now if he could just do something about the voter fraud in his state, he just might be able to fix some sh*t up there.
It really would be nice to have someone in TV land, like a primetime-every channel on the dial type of thing, explain to me what the “gun show loophole” and how to stop it.
There is no such thing as a “gun show loophole”. If they’re talking about a private gun sale in the parking lot, that isn’t a “gun show loophole”. That’s a private sale in the parking lot between two people. You buy a gun, from a dealer, at a gun show, you’re getting a NICS check.
All “commercial sales or transfers” require background checks. You cannot buy a gun from a dealer without getting the check. In Georgia, even if you have a CCW permit, you still go through the check, you just don’t pay the $5 for it.
I’d also love to see EVERY anti-gun group go to dealers and shops, wearing cameras and recorders to try and buy a gun without proper documentation or going through the required background check. And when they fail miserably, put it all on the tv, for all the world to see.
On a side note.....great article about everything that is going on https://noqreport.com/2019/08/06/25-reasons-dont-something-guns/
and the dems keep trying to implement gun control and state income tax
It’s the brainwashed college kids and out of state voters from Mass that cross over to throw wrenches into those gears. Apparently NH has some pretty lenient rules when it comes to being allowed to vote. And given their ability to organize, the Dem’s seem to take full advantage of them.
No seatbelt law, either.
Does the Abortion Priest cense the table and light a candle?
So now there’s nothin to keep a murderer from carrying a firearm onto a campus to wreak his havoc. Shame on the legislature! Don’t they care about the Children?
The local NHians are outnumbered by the Massachusians who have infested the lower half of the state with their Boston bedrooms.
Can it be? Another Republican standing up and doing the right thing. No fear. Thank you and Godspeed, Gov. Sununu!
Good for Sununu - not to be stampeded with all the national hysterics.
Exactly,
In a Week it will be
“Russia,Russia,Russia.”
I remember when it was every six months...back in the days of Mel Thomson.
The problem is that Big John Sununu apparently is still running the NH GOPe. Until the GOPe is neutered and Big John is shitcanned, I am remaining an independent. I came to New Hampshire in 1994 as a life-long Republican, but the way they treat our President and us, screw em!
Yeah, i do dig that.
They didn’t go dem by much, and it’s the cities in southern NH that have swayed the vote.
Sununu also vetoed an attempt to back door in an income tax.
They also passed vote reform that now does not aloow out of staters to vote in their elections.
They have a bad old law that allowed college students to vote and they closed that loophole.
Every office in NH is up for reelection every two years, and most of the positions are not paid and the ones that are are just a modicum of a stipend.
We’ll see what happens with 2020. NH has a tendency to vacillate between dem and republican.
Not such a big deal. We have those every year in NY as well.
It's not so stupid as there are a lot of people who would drive around with cars with virtually no brakes is they had the choice.
I’ve heard the vote loopholes have been addressed.
My son told me and he’s been living there for 5 years now and is active in politics.
And he is a very limited government advocate.
Any "gun-free" zones up there?
Perhaps he understands that it’s a waste of time since the bad guys don’t friggin’ care. He should talk to PDJT and square this away. Someone needs to get PDJT back in track on this. Quickly.
New Hampshire (like Maine and Vermont) are very gun rights states (yes, even Vermont with its’ liberal Senators). I’m glad for the vetos. Hey, Dems, stop acting like Communists, or you might have a bad year.
When you get out of Portland into some of the Regional School Districts, you don’t see a blue Maine, you’ll see libertarian families...They aren’t strong Conservative, but they hate government...They are up in Maine to be independent, just like most of New Hampshire and Vermont...
Just like Southwestern Maine...Massholes move from Mass and commute to Boston’s nothern suburbs...Native Vermonters hate out of staters who move into Vermont
