According to Air Force Magazine, President Donald Trump's new Air Force One fleet will cost a total of $5.2 billion total, up from the 2016 estimate of $3.2 billion.
Two Boeing 747-8s are being converted into VC-25s, the model used for VIP transport. They will serve as the "flying White House" starting in 2024, although Trump requested that they be ready for use in 2021.
Trump had boasted that he struck a deal with Boeing to lower the cost by $1 billion of renovating the jets, which were originally built for a now-defunct Russian airline. Boeing will be paid $3.9 billion to build the jets into White House material. The additional $1.3 billion comes from associated costs, like building hangars for the new jets. INSIDER reached out to the Air Force for comment on the new budget estimate, but did not receive a response by press time.

Sigourney looked delicious in that movie
AOC will be screaming again when she learns it doesn’t burn bio-fuel.
It isn't Trump's new Air Force One. It is the the Air Force's plane that will be used to transport the President, whoever it may be. And if Trump doesn't get re-elected, he will probably never even ride in it. With an planned delivery date of 2021, it probably won't be ready until 2023 at the earliest.
BI is on a left wing roll today.
No, there is palpable worry (fear?) that this weekend's events have brought the nation to the tipping point where both political parties will support restrictions on our First,Second, and Fourth Admendment rights. When my six year old grandson starts asking "prepper" type questions after watching the news, I take notice.
It’s always something. Funny.
Ooops, I oughtta read the article before posting. Expected delivery date is 2024, despite the request of 2021. Since vile Ellen even writes that in her article, her lying title is an even more vile lie.
Any little thing to attack Trump, across the vast media spectrum.
Brilliant. LOL
Hopefully the additional cost is related to Boeing NOT outsourcing anything to EXTREMELY cheap Asian labor rats.
(Have you seen the debacle of the 737 Max? ! )
I don’t trust Boeing as far as I can throw that 737.
More BS from BI.
ROFL Now that is funny
Boeing has to pay for the 737 Max debacle somehow.
How many large Aircraft manufactures in the United States that can build these Aircraft? I only know of 1 BOEING! This cost was put out by the Airforce.. This is the total cost of upgrades to the 747 fleet, Build new aircraft for the President and Vice President.. These A/V are not standard off the line aircraft. They are Hardened for Nuclear/EMP. Have sophisticated Electronics and the Interior is special also..
I thought by the title of the article that Trump was having to pay for it by himself.
Worrying about what AF1 costs is about number 815 on the list of legitimate concerns.
New hangars? Why? Doesnt anybody ever think to ask why?!
1.3 billion for a hangar to house a 747 that replaces a 747? Why? Why ia a new hangar needed and why should it cost tjis much?
Cant tell the damn dims from the republicans when it comes to wasteful spending.
The new model, the VC25B, is relatively the same as the 747 except it is longer, wider, and capable of going further and cruising faster than its predecessor. The basic reason for updating them is that the existing fleet of planes are just getting old, Todd Harrison, of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), says.
Switching to newer planes provides the obvious benefits that come with a modern aircraftmore efficient engines and better reliabilityand is also a chance to install new defense and communications equipment which will include a communication system that has plagued the aircraft for years with cutoff calls. It will; also contain a broadcasting system so the president can be broadcast from the aircraft.
It will have a skin on it designed to ward off electromagnetic pulses if there is a nuclear detonation and will have the capability to deal with a weapon like a shoulder-mounted heat-seeking missile, which would be a risk during takeoff or landing.
There will be other measures, but the military is not supplying any more information about defensive or offensive weapons. And Trump will not be in office when they are put on line in 2424, so it is not for him. It is for the president. And face it, the POTUS needs a slick ride, right?

I wish people would remember that AF1 is no normal passenger jet. It has all the defensive bells and whistles of combat aircraft. that stuff costs money. Now is Boeing milking the situation, of course they are.
“Sigourney looked delicious in that movie”
True, but the movie you mean was “Galaxy Quest”, THIS is from Star Trek.
