Mika Brzezinski: Mass Shootings a Political Issue Democrats 'Could Get Some Traction On'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 08/05/2019 8:44:41 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Somebody forgot to tell Mika Brzezinski that Democrats aren't supposed to brazenly discuss exploiting the mass shootings for political purposes.

Today's Morning Joe opened with a clip of Beto speaking about the El Paso shooting. A bit later, Brzezinski said:

"Beto O’Rourke, and his frustration that you could hear in his voice at the top of the show. And I really think he touched a chord in a way he never has in this campaign before because you could really feel the pain. And this is an issue that resonates with voters. This is an issue that resonates with young people who have grown up in the age of mass shootings, afraid they may come to their school because it has become a way of life. It seems to me that this political issue could be something that the Democrats could get some traction on.

Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

“Getting traction” on a slippery slope - seems like an oxymoron, right?

This is NOT a “win or lose” situation, it is a matter of getting enough information and education out there, and cut out the static.

Crazy or uninformed people should not, repeat not, have access to guns. Period.

Finding and properly managing these people is of first priority. The vast majority of people who possess side arms of any variety, have in mind to use them responsibly and with certain ground rules in place. Only a small minority, tiny in fact, of those in possession of firearms lack the knowledge or the judgment concerning the proper use, care, feeding, maintenance, or proper storage of sidearms of all types.

Guns, in and of themselves, possess no volition of their own. Only the person who cradles the weapon has that power. It may not always be possible to prevent persons with sinister intent from coming into possession, but we all can take steps to limit the extent of damage the lone carrier may pose.

Whether it be abortion or mass shootings, blood is the hard political currency of Democrats.

Don't forget anal sex. Dems are REAL big on anal sex and other deviant sexual proclivities.

Would it be wrong to wish for Joe and Mika to receive an unexpected delivery from the Acme Company?

".... We need to do something. We need to act...."

What exactly do we need to do? Limit the constitutional guns right of tens of millions of law-abiding citizens to prevent a few mentally disturbed criminals from doing what they end up doing? Where's the balance? Where's the cure?

The evil few are going to be evil no matter what sane people do. You can't stop evil people from doing what their deranged brains are telling them to do. Without guns, they'd just do it with knives or some other weapons.

I don’t think a free society can stop every evil act of a mentally disturbed individual. It’s the downside of freedom. But the alternative, government control, is worse.

So we live with these mass killing events because it is the unfortunate cost of freedom for the rest of the society. It is the horrible price we pay for remaining free.

You’ll get no disagreement from me on anything you posted.

I’m trying from a purely political perspective to lay out what may be the ramifications of what these two a-holes did over the weekend.

What they started may be very hard to turn off.

These mass shooting aways gets everyone is a tizzy immediately afterwards and rightly so.

But in the past, the initial "we have to do something" ends up being "we'll do nothing" in the long run.

Not that people should forget the loss of human life and the victims as the loved ones of their family and friends.

But eventually the clamor dies down, especially when another event or news story takes it's place.

There's is no doubt these shootings were horrific but so were many others perpetrated by evil gunmen in the past.

People will move-on and then forget with the passage of time. Nobody talks about Las Vegas or San Bernardino or Orlando mass shootings very much anymore. But you heard the same outrage and calls to do something after those shootings too.

democRATS might win a few votes because of their gun ban efforts (make no mistake, they want to ban everybody's guns eventually) but voters will vote on the traditional factors like the economy, jobs and illegal immigration.

The democRATS will try to make it a campaign issue now but how well does that fit into their Full Monty communist leanings for 2020?

Banning guns or just more random gun control laws will not stop mass shootings and they won't swing the 2020 election either.

Think about all of this. Elizabeth Warren really could use something to make herself stand out and above the raucous crowd of craven leftist haters that are the Democrat Presidential candidate field. Yet she has squandered that chance, and shown herself to be no wiser, and displayed no more integrity than the weaker candidates in their fevered desperation.

Anyone would expect the classless reaction and mindless comments Beto O’Rourke spat out this weekend, but Warren was supposed to be at least a bit more intelligent, more circumspect, and certainly more politically savvy than that bumbling clown. She shows nothing that would let her stand out in the mind from this crowded field of fools.

This is shaping up to be a watershed moment, much like the Wellstone Memorial, and the insane anti Kavanaugh debacle that still reeks of fraud and corruption. These people are so consumed with hatred and narcissistic lack of awareness, that they can be counted on to self marginalize themselves, to self destruct politically. How could anyone trust any of these people with the reins of power for our country?
