Police in El Paso, Texas, are responding Saturday to an active shooter in the area of the Cielo Vista Mall, the agency tweeted.
"Scene is still active," police wrote, adding, "avoid the area" around Hawkins and Gateway East boulevards.
At least three businesses in the area are on lockdown. Three Walmart employees took refuge at a Landry's Seafood house, restaurant manager Oscar Collazo told CNN. The women appeared "shook up" but not injured.
Landry's had already gone on lockdown, he said, but opened its doors when the employees ran there.

These mass shootings aren’t normal no matter who’s doing it. I don’t trust some of them not to be false flag attacks, but if it’s mental illness then we need to sincerely look into the reasons that are causing so much serious mentally illness these days. I don’t think prescription psychotropic drugs in adults can turn a normal person into a killer, but I think giving these drugs to very young kids for extended periods of time could affect them much differently. Giving little kids speed for ADD, when many doctors don’t even believe it’s a real disorder, could mess up their ability to feel empathy. I’m starting to think the mental health problems we are seeing is caused by the Internet. There are people who live online who aren’t able to understand that people naturally act different in person than online. I always thought that was clear to everyone, but I’m starting to think younger generations can’t see that, and are getting weird from spending their lives on social media. The only thing we can talk about after a mass shooting is gun control though. This is a tragic event, but I would rather it be caused by a drug cartel or illegal immigrant just so something good might possibly happen as a result instead of having to defend our second amendment right from the left until the story fades away for everyone except the families and friends of the victims.
