“How does that post of yours relate to this article?”

Were you a Bush-follower back in the day? I lost friends because I spoke up against George Bush back when he was (a disastrous) president. Funny, now you can’t find anybody who will admit to ever being an admirer of the guy. I’m sure he’s a nice fellow, but never should have been president.

Absolutely. I don’t have a problem supporting his actions versus Islam post 9/11, and I supported our troops in their fight.

That isn’t to say he didn’t alienate me with many of his actions as President, he downright infuriated me.

I would still vote for him before I would cast a vote for Al Gore or John Kerry. But that doesn’t mean I rubber stamp his presidency or everything he did.

Bush did not exist in a vaccuum. It was Bush or Gore. That said, he failed to lead on immigration and spending discipline. The WOT may have forced his hand on the latter, but it should have made him crack down on the former. Hard. We wouldn’t be in near the mess we’re in now, re: illegals.

So true. That's why, in 2000, I wrote in Trump.

Bush was a disaster, Gore would have been a double disaster. We are lucky to have him even tho he was a Rino.

I’ll admit it. I voted for him and supported him. I said then and still say, there were no encroachments on the 2nd Amendment. He professed to being Christian. But he let them savage him without saying a thing. Big mistake.

*raises hand*

I admit I was a sucker. Most of us were. Now that I'm red pilled, I realize that it's not only Democrats that are derp staters. And the Bush family is Derp State royalty.

I supported W - I've been on FR since 2001 and you can trace my posts.

My tag-line for all of 2003-2004 was W2K4

here's my opinion of him in hindsight:

  1. He was the right choice for President in 2000 and in 2004 -- the alternatives were miserable
  2. He reacted well to 9/11 - the reason it happened was not his fault, but the fault likes with Bush senior and with Clinton
    • Bush senior went into a needless war with Iraq - if we hadn't done that, there would be no Al Qaead, ISIS, Iran threat, 9/11 etc. etc
    • Bush senior and Clinton spent the 90s humiliating Russia instead of turning it into an ally - yes that was possible
  3. I fully, 100% supported and support what Dubya did in Afghanistan - that cleared out the Taliban and was overall a good thing
  4. I fully was against the 2003 invasion of Iraq - I publicly said that on FR and still stand by it that it was a mistake. It was pushed by Gulf War 1, but was still a mistake
  5. Economically I feel he did good

So overall I supported Dubya but not on Iraq - on every other point I did. And I think that he was a good President - the gulf War 2 removed him from being among the best, but he was still a good President.
