Sounds that way to me. Probably trying to get his brother expedited citizenship with a sob story about governmental harassment.

Maybe he was trying to get all the benefits of an illegal immigrant

It's ALL theatrics for the Democratic Media Complex and their Democrat minions. The same with the 'pity the poor migrant' narrative they shove down our throats on news broadcasts.
They do a close-up interview of a mother with children and thousands of young men are milling about in the background.
Their narrative doesn't fit the facts.

I'm a US citizen. If I try to re-enter the US with no passport, I'm not going to cry when I'm detained and treated with suspicion. That's why I always make sure I have my passport with me when I fly back to SFO from Europe or Asia.
Why exactly do Mexican-Americans who walk across the border without passports expect different treatment?
To: bryan999
Does he have outstanding warrants in the US? That would explain it.

Why is he a US citizen but his younger brother is not? Anchor baby whose mom was deported?

Sure seems like that. He should be fined for wasting the time of the Border Patrol.

Definitely an Agent Provocateur.
He's either working as a lone SJW or for a group.
My unfounded speculation is he was there to gather intel on conditions, activities of the guards, and all related matters.
Find out who he's working for.
To: bryan999
His mother did not want to wait for a passport when he was younger so that they could visit family in Mexico. Instead she claimed that he was a Mexican citizen and received a visitors visa instead.
This was what showed up in their system when they ran his name. It’s all his mothers fault.

You missed one minor detail. He wasn't crossing the border, he was going through a Border Patrol checkpoint well north of the border.

John Roberts sez it was OK to lie ‘cause the guy thought it was a census question.
