Border patrol official testifies citizen who was detained for nearly a month didn't say ... from US

A top U.S. Border Patrol official on Thursday testified that Francisco Erwin Galicia, an 18-year-old American citizen who was detained by immigration services for more than 20 days, did not tell officers he was from the U.S.

"I can give you some prelim: individual came through the Falfurrias checkpoint, he came through with the other illegal aliens, the individual claimed to be a Mexican national who was born in Reynosa, Mexico," Brian Hastings, chief of law enforcement at the U.S. Border Patrol, told the House Judiciary Committee.

"Throughout the process, and while he was with Border Patrol, he claimed to be a citizen of Mexico with no immigration documents to be in or remain in the U.S."

Hastings also said that Galicia was detained because it was discovered he had used a U.S. visitors visa his mother got for him when he was a minor to travel back and forth from Mexico more than 50 times.

Galicia was released from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody this week after the Dallas Morning News reported on his situation.

Galicia was detained while traveling to a soccer scouting event with his younger brother, Marlon, who is not a citizen and the "illegal alien" Hastings referred to.

When the two brothers reached a CBP checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas, Marlon only had a school ID card, while Francisco Galicia had his Texas ID, which can only be obtained with a Social Security number.

Francisco Galicia was later transferred to an ICE facility on the belief that his documents were fraudulent, while his brother signed a voluntary deportation form and has been staying in Reynosa, Mexico.

Sounds that way to me. Probably trying to get his brother expedited citizenship with a sob story about governmental harassment.

It's ALL theatrics for the Democratic Media Complex and their Democrat minions.

The same with the 'pity the poor migrant' narrative they shove down our throats on news broadcasts.

They do a close-up interview of a mother with children and thousands of young men are milling about in the background.

Their narrative doesn't fit the facts.

I'm a US citizen. If I try to re-enter the US with no passport, I'm not going to cry when I'm detained and treated with suspicion. That's why I always make sure I have my passport with me when I fly back to SFO from Europe or Asia.

Why exactly do Mexican-Americans who walk across the border without passports expect different treatment?

Does he have outstanding warrants in the US? That would explain it.

Why is he a US citizen but his younger brother is not? Anchor baby whose mom was deported?

Sure seems like that. He should be fined for wasting the time of the Border Patrol.

Definitely an Agent Provocateur.

He's either working as a lone SJW or for a group.

My unfounded speculation is he was there to gather intel on conditions, activities of the guards, and all related matters.

Find out who he's working for.

His mother did not want to wait for a passport when he was younger so that they could visit family in Mexico. Instead she claimed that he was a Mexican citizen and received a visitors visa instead.

This was what showed up in their system when they ran his name. It’s all his mothers fault.

You missed one minor detail. He wasn't crossing the border, he was going through a Border Patrol checkpoint well north of the border.
