Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., expressed support for the "decolonization process" of Puerto Rico following the announced resignation of its embattled governor, Ricardo Rosselló.
In an Instagram livestream on Thursday night, Ocasio-Cortez took questions from her followers. The first asked how she felt about what's happening in Puerto Rico.
"First of all, I am so incredibly proud of everyone in Puerto Rico right now demanding accountability from their government," Ocasio-Cortez began. "They were so relentlessly creative in their protest that they were able to get the governor to finally resign as well as some of his cabinet members."

She should move there. They can declare independence, and they can make her queen.
Last I looked, the status of Puerto Rico is up to its inhabitants. They can be independent any time a plebiscite indicates that that is the desire of the majority. The voters have firmly held to commonwealth status, neither desiring to be a state or independent.
Can this dirty sock puppet shut her mouth for one minute. She’s such an authority on everything coming from a bartender waitress position

I vaguely remember that a Civil War happened when 11 states tried to choose independence back in 1861.
Give it back to Spain, no charge.
Give it back to Spain only if AOC goes with it
I will assume as Trump was bashing this regime after the hurricane, AOC had full confidence in these clowns to govern the island honestly.
Let them go, just like the Philippines. I see no benefit to the US from retaining any legal connection with Puerto Rico.
ML/NJ
Hey Pelosi, maybe the people of New York and California
should try that in their respective states? Wouldn't
that be really creative too?
Ironic - she seems oblivious that they are demanding accountability because the old was what her "new" is...
100 percent I would be. One thing I was surprised about is that Puerto Rick only has 3 million on the mainland. The way its catered to, I thought it was 30 million at least.
Alright! Cut the island loose tomorrow.
No, today!
Hate to say it but I agree with her. Puerto Rico Independence.
YES!
I support complete independence as well along with a payment plan to reimburse American taxpayers what we are owed.
Well, if you run the U.S. out of Puerto Rico the average income will likely plummet from around $20,000 to income closer to neighboring countries. Looks like the Dominican Republic next door is under $200 per month so optimistically speaking around $2,400 per year. Then there is Haiti. Jamaica is around $2,500 (make sure to avoid the average salary listings for places called Jamaica in the U.S. which are quite a lot higher).
“decolonization” = “Venezualization”
Since the end of the Cold War, no possible reason to hang on to Puerto Rico.
Great idea, get the hell rid of the leach that is puerto rico.
Me too. Eating their death would be a bargain long term.
Corruption is a fundamental part of latin american "culture". We certainly don't need to import any more of it.
