Rep. Omar Deserves Her Day In Court (Which She Will Get. Hopefully Sooner, Than Later!!!)

Every American, including Rep. Ilhan Omar is entitled to the presumption of innocence. The evidence uncovered so far appears to support the conclusion that she is guilty of multiple crimes. They include marrying a sibling, immigration fraud, tax fraud, perjury and polygamy.

But then again, we might be wrong.

It is possible that the evidence (though it includes pretty specific documentation) is wrong. Maybe we have taken a number of things out of context. Or perhaps we don’t understand the distinction between a legal and a cultural marriage. That may apply to divorce as well. Normal Americans have difficulty understanding where Sharia Law ends and U.S. laws begin. How does common law fit into this? Which law takes precedent in cases like this? It is confusing indeed. That’s precisely why Rep. Omar should be given an opportunity to clarify things.

She should be given her day in court.

The countdown to that day begins with our Attorney General William Barr. Bill Barr has already demonstrated a no-nonsense approach and a deep commitment to the rule of law. He knows well that we cannot have groups of people who believe that they can pick and choose which laws apply to them and which do not. Barr also knows that the law teaches. The Omar case represents an important opportunity to teach and clarify these points.

Failure by the Justice Department to investigate this would send dangerous signals. Too many Americans already believe that there are two standards of justice. One for the powerful, connected people and the other for everyone else. It is also important to clarify things for immigrants and refugees. One of the reasons they wanted to come to the United States was to live in a country that respects the rule of law. Many of them fled systems where the law was whatever the powerful people said it was. There was no presumption of innocence, no equal justice under the law. Attorney General Barr has an obligation to uphold those principles.

Rep. Omar has enjoyed the benefits of being both an American citizen and a member of a protected class. She quickly learned the word “entitlement." Coming from the grinding poverty of a refugee camp to Minnesota, she and her family received housing, food, healthcare, education and cash. All free! Hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits, all paid for by hard-working Minnesotans. Whether she learned the meaning of the word “gratitude” is not so clear.

It didn’t take her long to learn to demand her “rights." Not wanting to offend her or her people, Minnesotans bent over backwards. She learned how to gain and yield political power, first in the Minnesota Legislature and then in Congress. She learned how to utilize her protected class status to great advantage. Cowing political adversaries and even the once-respected Minneapolis Star Tribune who sat on this story for over two years.

Unfortunately she also learned that she could blur the lines between different versions of law. If she found protection under Sharia law, then she applied that. Where U.S. code afforded her rights, she demanded them. But, when it came to laws with which she disagreed (like marriage and immigration laws) she acted as if they didn’t exist. We see this in her public statements about ICE and illegal immigration.

All of these are reasons why this is such an important teaching moment for General Barr.

He needs only to make a call to the U.S. Attorney in Minneapolis, Erica MacDonald, and suggest that she open an investigation. Knowing Bill Barr’s propensity for avoiding grandstanding, he may have already made that call. It shouldn’t take long for a couple of FBI agents to determine if there is enough credible evidence to present to a grand jury. If there is not, they could issue a simple statement: the case was investigated and found unworthy of prosecution.

Case closed.

However, if the evidence merits, Rep. Omar should get her day in court. The public rightly expects better answers than we have so far received. Equal justice and the rule of law must be defended. She deserves the chance to explain her side of this sordid story.

Sharia Law banned in many locales. Authors wonder why this is happening?
News | 17 July 2019 | Dustin Gardiner and Mark Olalde 17 July 2019 | FR Posted by MeneMeneTekelUpharsin

An article has been published in the Nashville Tennessean and folks need to go read it. It talks about "copycat" legislation being passed across thousands of locales banning the implementation of Sharia Law. The main thing I wanted to point out is that this long article gives almost NO information on what Sharia Law actually entails, but is only bent on saying that people are discriminating against muslims.

Logically, why would one implement a law system that directly contradicts in many ways the present system of law? Why implement a system of law that allows cutting off hands and beheading for punishment when the present system does not allow that? And, many other things in Sharia Law do not work with our system. So, why try to get that established? Takeover. That is all it could be. And, the media that publishes this trash is advocating for such. The media IS the enemy when they do that. It is time to bring this stuff to a screeching halt and punish people who try to get Sharia Law passed. No more. We're not going to do it.

===========================

...the article mentions the self-serving Muslims believe THEY are suffering discrimination in the US........
but there's NO mention that Sharia Law would mitigate discrimination against the unruly bunch....
or even be beneficial to those of us who live here who do NOT (and will NOT) live under Sharia law......

There are 50 countries around the world that identify as Islamic.

There’s something sinister about the bunch whining for “civil rights”.....complaining about Christians in a decidedly Christian country like America.

Why do Muslims need America to legitimize themselves?

They whine about making sure people feel represented.

Balderdash———Islam is all about “triumphalism”.....getting power over infidels.

The word “Islam” means submission.

These people are plotting, lying-in-wait to force submission to Islam and to install Sharia law in our nation. ....using our Congress and our laws.

We cannot rest til these people are unceremoniously kicked out of our country.

Thank you for the ping, Liz.

My take on this: We will soon discover if there is really any law left in this country. If this is ignored, laws (especially immigration laws) will be exposed as simply words on paper, in much the same way the Left is attempting to cast that same pall on the Constitution of the United States.

If nothing is done the conclusion is clear: There are laws that can be broken by some people with immunity. (I know, we already have ample proof of that in Hillary Clinton’s activities, as well as many of those in the former Obama Administration)

Granted, some readers of this post of mine will no doubt see me as a plodding observer, behind the times, and I can understand that.

For me, however, I am not ready to readily surrender our Constitution and laws to what has seemed obvious too many. I am too much of an optimist to think our imperfect system will yet prevail.

I readily admit to that, and if it indicates a degree of gullibility and stolid adherence to the belief that what was founded in this country is still meaningful, I can live with that. I can’t change my inherent optimism and stubbornness. It doesn’t mean I don’t see the threat, it is just that I think what we have stood for for a few hundred years still has relevance and meaning.

One has to live in their own skin.

Trump has focused on Omar politically. I think it’s possible that she will get prosecuted and, depending on what happens in the next election, she might get ejected from congress (assuming she wins re-election). Frankly I think if Trump wins a comfortable majority then the House is in-play as the RNC on recognizing this will begin shifting resources to House races. Probably 2 or the Squad will fail to be re-elected.

Laws need to apply to demoncrats. I’m sick of this crap

This divide is bigger than we think and the swamp much greater

ImStill stunned that they tried to pull that whole Russia hoax and now it’s like it never happened and they just move on

It’s like the boy who cried Wolf times 10,000

But again back to my main point: there are laws on the books and Democrats have to obey these laws

and if they don’t they need to suffer the consequences ! Right ???

Normal Americans have difficulty understanding where Sharia Law ends and U.S. laws begin.

That is, without a doubt, THE most stupid sentence I have ever read in my entire life.

There is NO Sharia law in America and I will fight to keep it that way.
