Well, Eric Tars, why don’t YOU let a bunch of them move into YOUR house and you can feed, clothe, and support them???
Put your money where your mouth is.

They do not do much against music. They mostly cancel continual sound like wind. The just muffle things like talking and music.

Show Tunes!!! I love ‘em, but I’ll bet those folks don’t.

IIRC, a couple decades ago our military was playing some song 24/7 to torture the enemy and coax them out of hiding. Seems it was the theme to Gilligan’s Island or similar.

Oh, I think this is where they played Gilligan’s Island to mess with the enemy. Noted in the original posting:
It was condemned when they were playing loud rock music in Guantanamo or in Abu Ghraib to disrupt the detainees sleep patterns, and now were doing it to citizens,

One of our local grocery stores plays oldies for background music. I frequently find myself singing along! I haven’t noticed if the yutes like it or not.

I used to think “It’s a Small World” was the worst ear worm. Then we started singing an insipid contemporary chorus in church that makes Small World look weak. Something like, “In my life, Lord, be glorified, be glorified” blah blah blah. Every verse has only one word changed, e.g., “life” goes to “home”, “work”, etc. (Soooo pithy and deep.)
So I go home Sunday and it’s in my head, “In my bathroom, be glorified ...”, and doesn’t leave until frickin’ SATURDAY.
It’s the worst ever ear worm.

I have discovered that if you have the ‘ear worm’ of SW, then a heavy dose of Led Zeppelin, AC-DC, Kiss or Pink Floyd will usually get rid of it..................

As long as they arent playing Taylor Swift songs I dont believe it can be considered torture under U.N. and Geneva standards.
Don't you realize that anticipation of Yoko Ono was WHY we had to drop the bomb on Japan?

My son is a fireman and he has been on numerous calls in the tent city (approx. 15 tents) in our town. I asked him about the cause of our homeless problem. His guess - many of these people have been prescribed or taken behavioral medicine for years. They simple can't function without it and if they ever do get off of the meds, they are fundamentally changed to the point they no longer normal.
The saddest part - I feel he will become so cynical that his will to help others will eventually diminish or disappear altogether.

It’s like playing C&W or classical music in a c-store to prevent undesirables from loitering.

Loop ooga chugga ooga ooga ooga chugga. One of the local stations did that when the Blue Suede redid the song. People calling in pleading to make it stop.
