Thousands of Puerto Ricans gathered Wednesday in the commonwealth capital of San Juan to demand the resignation of Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, the second mass demonstration against the embattled leader this week.
Waving Puerto Rican flags -- some in black and gray to signal their discontent with the government -- and chanting demands that Rosselló step down, demonstrators of every age group said they were fed up with the corruption of elected officials as well as crippling austerity measures that have scaled back necessary services in recent years.
The crowd included pop star Ricky Martin and reggaeton artists Benito Martinez Ocasio -- known as Bad Bunny -- and Residente.

Cut PR loose! AOC is a PR! We need more of her kind, like we all need a case of the clapp! Whatever we have to pay them to go away, it will be far cheaper that keeping them on our financial tit.
Maybe that Puerto Rican cocktail waitress who was elected to Congress last year can go there and straighten things out with her degree in Economics and twin policies of anarchy and Communism.
Nah. Rosselló was already doing that and it didnt work...she just needs to find another cocktail waitress gig.
This is in the news because some cruise ships are canceling stops there; I guess the massive crowds they’re showing on TV have them wondering about safety - has anyone ever looted a cruise ship?
I’m a PR and AOC is no PR. She’s a New Yorker.
Where’s that phony punk Alex Cora?
Well, I understand her family, like thousands of New Yorkers came there from Puerto Rico. And FWIW, PR, like virtually all the countries .south of the Mexican Border, all the way to Tierra del Fuego, have, for all of my nearly 80 years, had a problem with self-governance. I meant no personal disrespect to you or anyone else from that area, but those are the facts as I see them. And BTW, I.have been to Puerto Rico, and lets just say its not Hawaii. It is time to cut our losses, give PR a limited period of time on our dime to try their hand at being an independent country, then offer only trade where it makes sense.
I’m not scandalized by the chats that were exposed. He should not resign over that. Now, if he is corrupt, that’s a different question. But... if the people accusing him are themselves corrupt... then all of this is just theater. Its essentially a coup.
Is there anyone to replace him who isn’t themselves corrupt?
