The Oregon Republican Party launched Monday a recall campaign against Democratic Gov. Kate Brown after a contentious legislative session that saw her sic state troopers on runaway GOP legislators fighting her climate-change agenda.
The recall paperwork, signed Monday by Oregon GOP chair Bill Currier, accused her of ignoring or overturning the will of the voters on drivers licenses for illegal aliens and tax increases, as well as denying citizens protection from the domestic terrorist threat known as Antifa.
Governor Brown has subjected the people of Oregon to a long line of abuses of power while at the same time refusing to address their legitimate concerns, said the recall statement. She has fostered a toxic political environment that stifles meaningful discourse. She has threatened retaliation against her own citizens when her political agenda is not successful in the legislature.
Ms. Brown said she was not backing down after 11 Senate Republican legislators killed a Democratic cap-and-trade bill by fleeing the state for a week, denying the majority Democrats a quorum, near the end of the legislative session.
The Republicans ultimately returned two days before the session adjourned June 30 to take care of other legislative business.
The governor later praised legislators for an extraordinary session, citing bills on paid family and medical leave, health-care funding and housing investments, as well as the Student Success Act, which raises $1 billion per year for education by hiking taxes on the states highest-earning businesses.
She also vowed to revisit the cap-and-trade bill, calling it unfinished business, and hinted at executive action.

Sorry, but your attempt at an analogy is nonsense. For all their bluster, no impeachment filings have happened, and almost certainly won’t.
House changed hands due to regular elections, not special elections to boot out sitting congressmen.
I will happily sign! She is detested here by anyone with 2 brain cells.
Well, California did it will success. (Gray Brown).
I hope they have studied other successful — and unsuccessful — recall efforts in other states, and have learned what has worked, and what hasn’t.
Brown must go down!
We did it in California. Got rid of the scum-sucking Gray Davis.
Unfortunately, Arnold turned out to be only a marginal improvement.
When the effort to recall Davis began, it was roundly mocked, and given less than a snowball’s chance.
But it succeeded.
I don’t follow Oregon politics, so I have no idea the odds up there.
But normal people are fed up with these arrogant statists.
Sadly, no, they are not.
The Governor has been elected twice in 2 years by 7 points or so each time... This isn’t a situation where the governor is not popular... Yes, with GOP voters she’s not popular, but she’s in no threat to be recalled for anything.
This is just as stupid by the GOP in OR as it was for the Dems in WI.. and will wind up the same way, if they are even able to get a recall election to happen.
Just because you or I, or even some folks in OR don’t like her, that doesn’t make recall a reality... Just like Dems hate Trump, but if they decide to do more than lip service to impeachment they’ll get slaughtered.
Electorate doesn’t take well to trying to undo elections. Trying to parallel the Davis recall to this one is beyond wishful thinking.
It’s been perculating and planned on Facebook for 3 months now. So not an exclusive and not the GOPe. It’s grassroots committee people and tea partiers not the leadership.
Rats!
Oh well.
Gotta try to knock her off at election time!
(I was amazed that the recall against Davis worked here in CA. Arnold started out great, but ultimately folded)
(I mean that Oregon has a GOP)
Governor elections are held every four years, so how did she win twice in two years?
No, Oregon is only the second nuttiest, they are in competition with Washington State for the number two spot.
California is the NUTTIEST NUMBER ONE state; I know, because I live here.
If only she could be enticed to drive a Cadillac down MLK blvd in Jersey City....
It was an attempt at sarcasm which you misunderstood. However if you think the attempted coup against the President had nothing to do with the outcome of the election stand by for another shocker in 2020.
Agreed Davis was a perfect storm... no such thing going on in OR.
Special election to complete the term of the previous governor, who was elected in 2014 to a 4 year term and resigned in 2015.
She won the special election in 16 and was relelected
To a 4 year term in 18. Wing both times by 7 points or so.
She is in no threat of being recalled. GOP in OR are simply decideing to make the same mistakes as the Dems in WI did years ago. Only difference is WI statewide swings back and forth. OR generally doesnt. Only 1 statewide office is held by an R there.
GOP recall effort will almost certainly strengthen the Governors position when all is said and done, assuming this ever gets more than threats and talks.
Amen to that - must be part of the “Trump Effect”...
She wanted the Malheur incident over and done with. Next thing you know, Lavoy Finicum, who had permission to go speak from a sheriff, is dead.
