The Republicans are banking all their hopes on Roberts voting to uphold it again. But with all the changes to the individual mandate and all I don't think he can uphold again using the same twisted logic. I think there is a real chance that this will be struck down in June of next year. And unless the Republicans have a ready response then it is a tailor made issue for the Democrats.
No plan is what the government had for 200 years and it worked pretty well.
With the correct video and adoption files Roberts will see his way clear to wherever he is told.
Roberts has his orders.
He will rewrite again if necessary.
All that is just ridiculous nonthinking based on Free Republic dogma.
Roberts killed Obamacare by finding the weak legal link that was then congressionally removed and killed Obama care.
Roberts saw that to be permanent, there must be congressional action to right the legislative wrong.
That has happened
Democrats all know it and are back in their salons plotting new healthcare debacles.
Republicans might, but the republcian uniparty leaders do not.
Obamacare wont be repealed, because it cant be repealed - or, more exactly, it cant be repealed without ushering in huge Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate.
Members of Congress dont know much, but they can count votes like a pimp in a whorehouse can count money.
Yes, the voters hate Obamacare and want it repealed. That is absolutely true.
Its also true that they want the ability to buy insurance for pre-existing conditions, want insurance companies to be forbidden to cancel policies for non-payment, want zero payment at the point of service, want their adult children who are smoking dope in a dive in Oakland to stay covered, want their States to expand Medicaid without taxes going up, and so on.
In other words, the only two things they hate about Obamacare are paying for it, and the name.
Republicans in Congress understand this perfectly well, which is why theres no plan.
And, not coincidentally, Obamacare (and Romneycare) were the culmination of fifty years of reform, all of which had the purpose of destroying the private sector or making it impossible for the private sector to function, except for boob jobs and a few other things. And, by 2009, the mission was largely accomplished.
Obamacare was merely a temporary mop-up operation, until full nationalization was possible.
And now, it is.
Like Nixon to China, Trump will propose single payer within the year. Its really the only way out at this point.
And before you accuse me of favoring it, realize that it will destroy a lifetime of work for me. I dont like it - I hate it.
But its coming, because its what the voters, bless their pointy little heads, want.
Government having the plan is the problem.
Since when must the government “have a plan” for my health care?
My plan for them: stay away from my plans, i.e. don’t mandate what I must buy, don’t mandate what insurance must offer, don’t mandate how my medical records must be kept, don’t mandate that my personal medical information be turned over to anyone without my written consent for each occurrence, etc.
Strip health care from 20 million illegal aliens you mean?
Strip health care from 20 million illegal aliens you mean?
You’re such a useless troll.
Allow insurance policy sales across state lines.
Trump has already started on his own plan by requiring them to expose their prices. That is the first step to a return to a REAL free market system.
This isn’t about health insurance. It’s about an over regulated industry being caused - by government interference and medling - to be priced too high to be affordable.
I went to the emergency room at a hospital several months ago. During the visit, the doctor came in, with hands in his pocket, made a comment that I might want to go to Louisville for follow up, and then he left. That was his full involvement.
We paid the full bill (we don’t have insurance) and then, a month later, got a collection notice that we had not paid the doctor’s bill - $1,200. We did get it reduced to $700, but I’ll die before I voluntarily go to an emergency room again. I’ll have to be unconscious.
Why do they need to?
Free Market: Learn it. Live it.
There is no workable plan that doesn’t involve smashing the medical monopoly and a short-term 20% hit to GDP as we return to a transparent and free market in health care. Every politician in DC is terrified of the effects of a real fix.
All medical treatments get cheaper and more accessible over time, as the costs are paid for.
MRI scans used to cost $10,000 for a scan. Now, you can get one for $300. What other plan do you need?
Strange
I just heard a very sincere and convincing Republican congressman from Louisiana say they had a very good plan accepted by the House but lost by one vote in the Senate.....2 years ago
Obamacare isn’t going anywhere because the GOP loves Obamacare. The GOP donor class loves socializing employee expenses like health care and privatizing profits. I will no longer be duped by the GOP beltway scams.
