At the Daily Wire, Ryan Saavedra postulates a breakthrough in DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s investigation into alleged FISA abuse against the Trump campaign. Saavedra reports that “at least one witness has started to cooperate in the investigation.” Fox News also reports that an Obama administration official has flipped.
Saavedra suggests that the official most likely to be cooperating with Horowitz’s investigation (which in turn, as I understand it, is collaborating with the Durham probe that was ordered by Attorney General William Barr) is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec.
If Kavalec has indeed flipped, how significant is it? It’s hard to say. Her notes and emails are damning enough; the question is whether she has much to add to them. She might have had conversations with fellow Obama administration officials about Steele that would definitively put the lie to the administration’s FISA applications. More likely, she can simply add foundation and context to the written record.
I have always thought it unlikely that any Obama administration officials–John Brennan, James Comey, Andrew McCabe and the whole rogues’ gallery–will pay a serious price for their meddling in the 2016 election and, worse, their effort to use fake intelligence to disable the incoming Trump administration. But we can always hope that someday, justice will prevail.

True that. Think of Horowitz as a firewall.
Regardless of what his so-called “findings” will say nothing will change after his report is released and nobody will ultimately be held accountable for anything. They may suffer some personally damaging political repercussions from their involvement in the plot against the president but they won’t do any time or receive any form of harsh punishment.
That’s not how Washington works. The Swamp always protects its own lest unwanted mud and dirt get slung on everyone.
I have no doubt this is our last chance. If Trump can’t drain the swamp we have to drain it ourselves. Most of the problems come from those who were appointed rather than elected, so the ballot box isn’t going to help.

The version of F&F under Bush was much much smaller in scope all guns were tracked, recovered and accounted for. Goal was to track gun smuggling routes. High risk high pay-off LE operation. How successful? I have no idea!

Under Bush ATF installed tracking devices in the weapons so they could be tracked. Obama/Holder did not and still claimed to be planning on tracking them somehow.
It’s not Kavalec. Horowitz is restricted to to looking inside the DoJ and FBI. Kavalec did nothing wrong, was probably an unwitting participant in the setup, and correctly reported Steele’s animus. And Kavalec’s testimony shouldn’t add to her previously identified deficiencies in Steele’s dossier.
