President Trump on Monday said he would no longer deal with the U.K.s ambassador to the U.S. after leaked cables revealed the diplomats blunt assessment of the Trump administration.
In a pair of tweets, Trump bristled at Ambassador Kim Darrochs description of him as inept and suggested a new British government could make changes.
I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the U.S. We will no longer deal with him. The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister, Trump wrote.
The British embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Even as Trump showed his anger with being criticized by a foreign official, he went after outgoing British Prime Minister Theresa May, whose office expressed full faith in Darroch, over her handling of Brexit.
What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way, Trump wrote, adding that while I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!
The dust-up was highly unusual for two close allies, but it showed how the leadership turmoil in the U.K. is having an effect on the transatlantic alliance.
1 Jul: UK Times: Whitehall chief lined up as US envoy
The cabinet secretary who conducted the Huawei leak inquiry is being lined up for a top overseas posting if Boris Johnson becomes prime minister.
Sir Mark Sedwill is said to be considering a role as British ambassador in Washington, with Gavin Williamson likely to return to the cabinet...
***Ministers are said to be tipping Sir Mark to replace Sir Kim Darroch, who has been in post since January 2016 and is due for a move...

he should have been pulled when the message was first received in the UK.
then, he should have been pulled when the message was first publicly revealed.
Now, the fact that he is still in office seems to be an indication of the amount of disdain that the UK government still has for trump.
that imho seems regrettable considering that the USA will be the UK’s most important trading partner once Brexit happens...
Winning! Punch back twice as hard.

Good to see President Donald Trump dropping subtle hints to the Brits that they need to recall their ambassador.
The US should have declared the jerk persona non grata and sent him on his way.
The President could do this. But by saying he (Trump) will not work with the man, it puts the Ambassador in a bad position. It will force his own government to recall him or face dealing with the US without a functioning Ambassador.
EVERYBODY at the State Department, including the janitors should be shot or hanged immediately.
This should have happened 75 years ago!
Free Tommy. We must rescue the British from the Muslim rape and murder gangs !
He’s definitely not wrong in his assessment of how There’s May handled Brexit.
Exactly right!! Maybe the idea that Trump’s playing some sort of 5-D chess isn’t all that crazy after all. :)
Good!
They probably would if they worked for Trump but they don't.
Pretty sure the UK ambassador to the US is the most useless position. Like this guy ever shows up for anything other than state parties.
the story to me is the leakers are actually turning on their so called betters, in government even in the UK. Yes Prime Minister.
This could be a casus belli.
Someone’s diplomatic career is over.
Just grant Tommy Robinson political asylum, and watch their heads explode.
I posted yesterday, he should let the UK PM know that she had one hour to get Robinson safely to Heathrow and on a plane to the USA.
Or all economic hell and other hells would be brought out.
