UK regrets leak of memos calling Trump administration 'inept'

Britain said on Monday it had contacted Washington to express regret for the leak of confidential memos in which its ambassador described U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration as “dysfunctional” and “inept”.

The memos from Kim Darroch, ambassador to Washington, were divulged to a Sunday newspaper, annoying Trump and embarrassing London.

“Contact has been made with the Trump administration, setting out our view that we believe the leak is unacceptable,” Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesman told reporters. “It is, of course, a matter of regret that this has happened.”

Trade minister Liam Fox, who is visiting Washington, told BBC radio he would apologize to Trump’s daughter Ivanka, whom he is due to meet.

“I will be apologizing for the fact that either our civil service or elements of our political class have not lived up to the expectations that either we have or the United States has about their behavior, which in this particular case has lapsed in a most extraordinary and unacceptable way,” he said.

So let me get this straight, they regret it so much that they’re going to leave the ambassador in place? How effective do they think he can be?

Horseshit! The British government hates Trump every bit as much as the Deep State. Doesn’t anyone wonder why Steele, an MI6 officer (who isn’t “retired” by the way) hated a US presidential candidate to the extent he supposedly did? Does anyone believe he was cooperating with the FBI, CIA, State, etc. without the full knowledge of the British government? Communiques and cables from ambassadors are highly classified and considered extremely politically sensitive. The Deep State didn’t throw Darroch under the bus; Darroch released his cables intentionally - again, with the full knowledge of the British government - to make Trump look bad.

I’m just wondering when the Trump administration is going to kick Darroch’s ass out of the country, which is what most countries would do in this situation.

Teresa May has been making some terrible decisions lately.

Attacking Trump and jailing Tommy Robinson will not set well with the "Normies".

Since she has resigned and the process to replace her is well underway that support has a finite end date.

Ding! Their global socialist Yurp establishment in the Foreign Office is just like our Ivy League global socialist establishment at Foggy Bottom. Driving a wedge between the US and UK has always been foremost in their minds since the end of WWII.

Don’t fall for it and give them what they want. Don’t interpret this as the view of the whole UK. It’s not.

“Teresa May has been making some terrible decisions lately.”

She’s going to get better paid employment soon, probably.

Blair has raked in the pounds.

The Ambassador is correct and it is his duty to inform Whitehall of the situation in the United states.

Her job is to eviscerate the Brexit.
She was a remainer.
Let a remainer lead the Brexit process! What a joke.
Just like...let an atheist be the Pope.

Yeah, they regret the leak. Not the memos themselves, but the leak. The leaker will be dealt with.

“we believe the leak is unacceptable”

What is unacceptable is that you employ a diplomat who doesn’t know the meaning of the word “diplomacy”, and then assign that diplomat to your closest ally.

“...express regret for the leak...”

Oh, so they are sorry about “the leak”, not about what was said about Trump.

That’s like the Liberal apology...

“I’m sorry “IF” you were offended”

We’re not “sorry” about what we said, only sorry about “offending” you, “IF”, you were.

In other words...The leak is unacceptable but the ambassador’s sentiments regarding President Trump are in line with UK governments opinion of the President.

Nothing is by accident with these people

They perpetrated a complete treasonable hoax for two years

Their gig is up. It’s amazing to watch

They’re out of real ammo now

The LEAK is unacceptable?? Does that imply the sentiment is acceptable? In other words, “Gee. We’re sorry you DISCOVERED our bias -— of course, we don’t apologize FOR it.”

It certainly isn’t. Unfortunately there is a disconnect between what the people of Britian want and what the governing establishment wants. Its been the same since 1066 with the Norman Lords ruling over Saxon peasants with whom they feel little affinity with and feel more of a sense of compatriotism with their fellow continental elites than with ordinary Englishmen/Britons whom they disdain as vulgar and inferior.
