Independence Day weekend always brings a barrage of violence to already gunshot plagued city each summer, and this year has been no different in Chicago. WGN9 reports that at least four have been killed and more than 40 have been shot since Wednesday in the Windy City.

Juliana Tornabene that all have the killings have been caused by gun wounds:

Around 5:30 a.m. Friday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, a 26-year-old man was standing outside a friend's home when he was shot in the shoulder. The man's girlfriend arrived to the scene, and took him to Stroger Hospital. The man is in good condition and is not cooperating with police.

Chicago is a victim of the ‘lax’ gun laws in the surrounding states of Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, and Kentucky. If only the other states would follow Illinois’s (Chicago’s, really) leadership on the issue...
