Americans Strongly Dislike PC Culture
The Atlantic ^ | 10/10/18 | Yascha Mounk

Posted on 07/06/2019 5:59:01 AM PDT by ek_hornbeck

On social media, the country seems to divide into two neat camps: Call them the woke and the resentful. Team Resentment is manned—pun very much intended—by people who are predominantly old and almost exclusively white. Team Woke is young, likely to be female, and predominantly black, brown, or Asian (though white “allies” do their dutiful part). These teams are roughly equal in number, and they disagree most vehemently, as well as most routinely, about the catchall known as political correctness.

Reality is nothing like this. As scholars Stephen Hawkins, Daniel Yudkin, Miriam Juan-Torres, and Tim Dixon argue in a report published Wednesday, “Hidden Tribes: A Study of America’s Polarized Landscape,” most Americans don’t fit into either of these camps. They also share more common ground than the daily fights on social media might suggest—including a general aversion to PC culture.

Depressingly true

Well, the concept of “woke” *does* refer to people afflicted with an astounding depth of stupidity.

If you don’t discuss politics at all—and just listen to what those around you are saying—you will find that almost no-one else pays any attention to it.

BINGO! I point this out quite often to relatives and friends, and it’s the one thing that always brightens my spirit and gives me hope that the loonies are tuned out by the vast majority of Americans. Now I’m going out to hoist my beautiful 3’x5’ TRUMP 2020 KEEP AMERICA GREAT flag!

I think a huge milestone for accelerating the PC abomination was GWB foisting the Muslim religion on us

A lot of people here are still clinging to the "It's the Democrats" foolishness.

You miss the point entirely in your anti Republican bogotry.

None of those men advocated the toral destruction of the American way of life.

The 3 percent of racially homogeneous ‘progressive activists’ then..... are White. Ultra liberal, single minded, crazed (with white guilt as applies to anything...other raced, or even just country origin- ie. what race is “mexican”, or El Salvadorean?) neo Marxist/socialist who are in their drilled down core-— Totalitarians. Academics,media/techie moguls, and their paid shock troops— AntiFA— who are the Revolutionary Communists (actually themselves ultra left Fascists— as they are in control of the same media/tech corporate giants.

So— it should be very easy to remove these clowns, and they know this as they bob and weave and head fake pushing the edge of the envelope as they go-— next up— NAMBLA-for, one thing this “study” did not look at is their homosexual (or at best androgynous weak males and malehating “manly” dykes). All the above are controllers of their willing helpers in the bureaucracy of our government- unelected, and permanent (so far).

You would agree, I trust, that class struggle and opposition between classes (thesis-antithesis) is the heart of Marxism and all of its descendants, including the CPSU? Correct?

What is the fascist view of class struggle? Why does the organized Left laugh at the law, the courts, and the state but wake up at night in a cold sweat over fascism?

Why was Dachau built, and who went there?

Obviously, my followers on Twitter are not a representative sample of America. But as their largely supportive feelings about political correctness indicate, they are probably a decent approximation for a particular intellectual milieu to which I also belong: politically engaged, highly educated, left-leaning Americans—the kinds of people, in other words, who are in charge of universities, edit the nation’s most important newspapers and magazines, and advise Democratic political candidates on their campaigns.

... So the fact that we are so widely off the mark in our perception of how most people feel about political correctness should probably also make us rethink some of our other basic assumptions about the country.

But what the vast majority of Americans seem to see—at least according to the research conducted for “Hidden Tribes”—is not so much genuine concern for social justice as the preening display of cultural superiority.

Yes, a 'particular intellectual milieu' that (without insight) kills whatever it touches: newspapers, magazines, liberal networks, political parties, respect for Universities and colleges, and an especially cruel death to the faith we once had in cultural elites...

Like a cabal of influential restaurant owners who are slowly waking up to the fact their profession is dying because 'broiled maggots' are not what the masses (and even most of their sycophants) want to eat... It appears our 'elites' aren't that elite... or sensitive, or admirable... or worth following.

At least Yascha Mounk is considering the unthinkable...

People care about politics when it negatively effects them ... like what is happening now. That people only care about 'food on their own table’ is crap AND it's a current liberal talking point- - gleamed from a focus group somewhere in “Kansas”..

“Woke” is an intentionally use of non-standard grammar (because grammar rules are imposed by the white power structure to exclude “out groups”). Woke people have been exposed to leftist propaganda and indoctrination, and have accepted uncritically the fruits of Marxist Critical Theory and “Cultural Marxism”. Without indoctrination, they would have been asleep to all the horrors, and maybe even feel some sense of responsibility for their own lives. In this construct, white American males use a patriarchal power structure to victimize and exploit the rest of the world, “stealing” the productive efforts of others, while deliberately keeping them down through discrimination. Women and minorities are actually much smarter and contribute more. America is an imperialist exercise that has amassed capital by exploiting workers and the third world. Slavery provided the capital and talent for “first world” industrial development. US military hegemonism and US controlled monetary institutions keep the world in thrall to our advantage.

The purpose of “wokeness” is to motivate believers to political action by making them feel intense outrage at their own victimization, despite a lack of contemporary evidence. Thus the emphasis on lynching in the 1920’s or busing in the 1960’s. Thus the rash of hoax incidents of nooses, racist graffiti, false sexual assault reports, etc. The “woke” ones believe an epidemic of such things are happening right NOW, therefore to “make a difference” they must create an illustrative event.

Woke honkies hate America, capitalism, heterosexual men, whites, and themselves. Woke non-whites hate woke honkies and everyone else. It’s all a tactic to take by politics and force whatever you have worked for.
