Five Principles That Will Power President Trump's Reelection

Peace.

Trump said this week that if he hadn’t been elected, the U.S. would be at war with North Korea. That’s a stretch, but he has demonstrated repeatedly that he is not eager to use America’s military overseas.

Prosperity.

The single most reliable indicator of whether an incumbent president will be reelected is whether the economy is doing well. Under Trump, the economy is going gangbusters—in fact, better than most economists predicted was even possible. With unemployment at record lows and the stock market at record highs, there isn’t even a hint of inflation. Trump stimulated an economy

Sovereignty.

If a country can’t control its borders and can’t stop foreign entities from interfering in its domestic affairs, then it has diminished sovereignty. Nationalists like Trump believe the sovereignty of nation-states, at least legitimate ones, should be absolute.

Self-sufficiency.

Like sovereignty, self-sufficiency is not a term Trump would likely invoke at a campaign rally. But the two ideas are related. Trump doesn’t subscribe to the theory of comparative advantage among nations, or to free trade, or to economic globalization, because he believes every nation is out to get the best deal for itself even if that means breaking the rules. In that regard, the international economy is not much different from the New York real-estate market where Trump made his fortune

Energy.

I’m not talking about fossil fuels here, I’m talking about initiative. Trump is an activist who is relentless about pursuing his agenda, whether the topic is deregulation of the economy or denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. His energy level surpasses the performance of any president in living memory, and once he decides what his goals are he doesn’t pay much attention to critics.

RULE OF LAW -- President Trump has been defending himself against Demagogic Party lawfare, and yet he's still getting stuff done. He's trying to enforce the law against illegal immigration/invasion, and the Demagogic Party of course opposes that. He's been following the law in his moving of the US embassy to Jerusalem and is punishing Iran for its failure to live up to the surrender document arranged by Zero, Kerry, and Biden, and is in compliance with that agreement. Thanks Hojczyk.

Election campaign hasn’t even kicked into high gear with Trump yet, and the Democrats have been squeezing their tight monopoly on information to tamp down any developing narrative contrary to their party permissions. But far more problematic has been the Deep state bureaucracy and judicial resistance married to this kind of media and information control.

So there’s a lot of obstacles out there still. Not being defeatist just stating that Democrats have been trying to adapt to the Trump revolution with jack booted control over what power structures they still have and those they had been developing for sometime.

Lots of work to communicate will be important I think. We cannot be afraid or be bullied out of Trump support.

I like the category of self sufficiency, but the author’s example is nonsense. Among the first things President Trump did as president was loosen regulations regarding energy production. Now, two years later, we have surpassed Saudi Arabia in oil production. He also put tariffs on steel production to keep steel production in the USA,, because it is a national security issue to have access to steel.

Technically, we are at war with North Korea.

Trump stimulated an economy.

While I have few concerns that Donald Trump won’t roll over the very weak competition, the prosperity factor, like all of them can be finicky.

On Friday, July 6, 2007 the Dow Jones closed at 13,611. A year later on Thursday, July 3, 2008 it was at 11,288. Friday, September 12, 2008 was 11,422. On Monday September 15, 2008 (my birthday) my mother died and Leeman Brothers collapsed sending the market into a one day tailspin of about a 500 point loss. The market stabilized over the next couple of days, but over the next couple of months it bottomed out at 8,175 on October 27 rebounding to 9,325 on the Friday before election day.

Interestingly, it gained about 300 on election day.

My point is that it may not matter what the market is doing right now if in the months immediately preceeding the election the market is tanking.

I believe the betting money in early September was on John McCain winning the presidency. That ended on September 15, 2008.

One small factor in this is that “early voting” had not taken hold across the country so it was for the most part election day that still mattered.

You all are looking at this all wrong. The DNC will target the House and Senate and effectively shut Trump down. Notice how the republicans don’t even stand up for anything? Trump will win...and we will lose every thing else, so it won’t matter.

He might end that war sooner than the election in November 2020—Peace in Korea would be a good thing.

Yes, and though they can't vote they will be counted in the census. It's like the old three fifths compromise all over again. The question then becomes where are they all going to be when the census is taken.

What’s your point that Pres Trump has to end all “technically” wars , not so old and new if he is to be a success. Seriously lets have Hillary as Pres, sigh

About 7% of them are likely to vote in 2020 too.
