USWNT defender Ali Krieger has said she would “absolutely not” go to the White House if invited and stood by her teammate Megan Rapinoe in her war of words with US President Donald Trump.
The 34-year-old — a veteran of three Women’s World Cups — believes it was important for her to publicly support Rapinoe, who has attracted as much media attention for her comments off the pitch as her exploits on it.
“I refuse to respect a man that warrants no respect,” Krieger told CNN New Day’s Alisyn Camerota of Trump. “I feel that staying silent at times can side with the oppressor and I didn’t want her to feel like she was having to process this all alone, because a lot of us do have those similar feelings.
“I wanted to make sure that as one of her close friends, she didn’t feel that and I feel like we’re able to focus — as women it’s funny, imagine that, we can multitask — on two things at once.
“I refuse to just sit back and watch an abuser, a bully talk like that to my friend and I support her as a friend and I wanted to make sure that I said something that meant something to me and was important to me and that’s why I did what I did.”
Krieger — a Women’s World Cup winner with the USWNT in 2015 — last week responded to Trump’s string of tweets about Rapinoe, writing: “I know women who you cannot control or grope anger you, but I stand by Rapinoe and will sit this one out as well.”
The US defeated England 2-1 Tuesday to set up a clash with the Netherlands in Sunday’s showpiece final and Krieger insists that the players’ off-field battles have no impact on how they perform on the pitch.
“Honestly, after I tweeted about that incident I haven’t really been on Twitter and focused on him (Trump) at all,” she said. “More importantly, Barack Obama tweeted at us which I definitely liked so I saw that one and I was really excited about that,” she says, grinning from ear to ear. “And we all were as well.
“I don’t think it takes a lot of mind space to go ahead and tweet something out that’s very important and then refocus — turn it off and then refocus on the job. What we’re doing here is to win.”
The USWNT squad may yet get the chance to visit Washington D.C.
Last week, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez invited them to the House of Representatives and Krieger said she would “absolutely” take her up on the offer.
“I could say that after this game, we could pack our bags and be on our way, but that’s obviously not my choice,” she said. “So we’ll have to regroup and see what happens but most importantly we have this game on Sunday, we have to perform.
“We have to win and then everything else will come after that — so one day at a time. Most importantly we need to focus on this then and then things will come into play after that.”

I think this organization needs to loose all tax money they get. They are supposed to represent the USA and since they obviously cannot do that then they need to give any money back given to them by US the taxpayers.

I hope that she enjoys women’s sports while it lasts. The Left is destroying women’s sports with their transgender insanity. Men who “identify” as women will soon run real women in sports, even the homosexual ones like her, out. I can’t imagine that a professional sport can survive that is based on a complete fraud.

President Trump pointed this out, but also said they were doing great. Then he offered this team an invitation to the White House win or lose, in spite of their obnoxious behavior and hatred for our country.

If you are going to play in the big leagues of politics, and make comments contrary to who is paying your bill to play for a country you do not wish to represent to make your money displayed by the comment you made about a White House invite using language you should never use to the media to be broadcast to youth, then expect some negative returns from the people you insulted. It makes you nothing but a political prostitute.
And for someone to follow Rapinoe for other than the reason for the trading of insults and just because she is a team member and not for the way the insults were done, indicates to me someone with no character in standing up for a correct way of doing things and protecting the country she competes for and lives in for the people and the youth within it. And both use the sport to put food in her mouths and a roof over her head at the expense of the American Taxpayer. It’s like the man said in Star Wars, “Who’s the fool, the fool or the fool who follows?” Unless Kreiger agrees with Rapinoe on Trump, a man neither has ever met and doesn’t know anything but what the media presents, then she’s no better than Rapinoe. And if it is for other reasons, lay them out coward or you should just keep your 15 minutes of fame mouth shut. Especially since soccer in this country has afforded you a net worth of $3 million and earns $4,950 per game with the US team. That ends up being about $99,000 a year. The median wage for workers in the United States in the first quarter of 2019 was $905 per week or $47,060 per year for a 40-hour workweek. I guess it is worth double the medium wage in the country to be stupid and led by the nose for a sport that will contribute nothing to the safety and security to this country. The average wage of police in the US is $42,793 and the average for an army infantry sargeant, one that steps in front of a bullet for a living, is $39,135 yearly. And the players play a game that in the long run means nothing. They ought to be embarrassed instead of being imbolden for the way they handled this.
Rapinoe lacks integrity and Kreiger lacks intestinal fortitude or independent thought. Take your pick.
