The gun industry is pushing back against a proposed suppressor ban introduced recently by Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ). The bill, if passed, would ban the importation, sale, manufacture, transfer or possession of suppressors. Many Republicans and the NRA are saying the benefits of suppressors include hearing protection for the gun user and less noise pollution for those within earshot of a discharge.
President and Executive Director the Amerian Suppressor Assocation Knox Williams said, "Suppressors are essentially mufflers for a gun." Williams explained that suppressors don't come close to "silencing" a gun (many uninformed journalists and anti-gun advocates call suppressors "silencers"). Rather, a suppressor typically reduces the report of gunfire by approximately 20 to 35 decibels. Considering the sound of a rifle or handgun being fired is louder than a jet engine at takeoff, simple logic says a suppressor doesn't provide much of an advantage to a criminal or shooter with ill intentions.
"We don't think that people who want to exercise their Second Amendment right to shoot, hunt, defend themselves should have to sacrifice their hearing in the process," Williams continued. This federal legislative proposal comes on the heels of the recent mass shooting at a Virginia Beach Municipal Center, and the subsequent calls for a suppressor ban in the state. "Not a single one of [the Virginia Governor's] gun control proposals would have prevented what happened at Virginia Beach. That's the bottom line. This is a gun grab by the governor," said Catherine Mortensen, an NRA spokeswoman referencing the recent mass-shooting in Virginia.
In other gun control news, Democrats quietly slipped a bill into Congress some months ago that would ban the sale, acquisition, distribution, or import of firearm receiver blanks, 3D-printed firearms, and certain gun-making kits. The bill, H.R. 7115, currently resides in the House. This federal legislation mirrors many state-level bills passed across the country. Washington state recently banned the sale and making of 3D-printed firearms, as well as any firearm or gun-making kit made from polymer. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms has long held that is is legal to build a firearm at home for personal use, with no FFL (Federal Firearms License) or other paperwork required.
The hobby of building guns at home has become popular among shooters and firearms enthusiasts. If passed, this legislation would greatly curtail a long-established Second Amendment right instituted and protected by the Gun Control Act of 1968. County Sheriffs and some city officials in Washington have already
“...suppressor ban introduced recently by Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ)...”
And to think but for that worthless turd Sessions we could have put Menendez away for a long time.
Gonna be a tech breakthrough....phasers, the Star Trek type...becomes a reality.
Then what liberals?
Will it be at least a 40 watt phased firearm?
F-troop says you can build a gun at home.
Suppressors are technically defined as a firearm.
Therefore you can build your own supressor at home.
This needs to hit the round file for a trip to the landfill or just burned.
Gun-grabbing socialist demonRats make good fish food. Or so I hear.
We know a thing or two about Menendez’ penchant for adolescent girls, so it’s quite clear why he’s so hoplophobic.
Therefore you can build your own supressor at home.
Shotgun barrel 18 1/16 longperfectly legal, shotgun barrel 17 15/16 longvery big trouble.

They killed Randy Weaver’s wife and son over that.
If I was a betting man, I’d bet the percentage of crimes committed with guns built from kits is an almost imperceptible and significantly insignificant statistic.
So, they’re going after AR-15 parts kits, Glock barrels, 80% receivers and such.
Don’t allow it.
Stop being gutless.
[And to think but for that worthless turd Sessions we could have put Menendez away for a long time.]
If you purchase a manufactured suppressor, it has a serial number and model number. An ATF Form 4 is required to make the purchase. If you choose to manufacture your own supressor, you must use ATF Form 1 and add the details appropriate to a suppressor. Similar applies to building your own SBR. Either way, you have to cough up $200, photos, fingerprints and the "responsibility form" for each person on your NFA trust. Copies in duplicate as one goes to the ATF, one goes to the Chief LEO in your county"
I did the NFA trust route for my first 2 SBRs. Subsequent to those purchases (one Form 4, one Form 1), the Democrats pushed through a requirement for a "responsible persons form" for EACH person on the trust. Complicating the process, my son is on the trust and he was 1200 miles away. I still don't have all the new extra crap accumulated 16 months after paying for a Ruger 22 cal suppressor. It rests at the FFLs office as does my money.
I say We encase them in Transparent Aluminum.·´·.·ฯฯ.H££
Don’t forget about the Satchel Charge and Fuel Bladder drop Via the Chopper...

That should be a Farside Cartoon with the Sea Critters talking about how REAL those humans look in that Transparent Aluminum Aquarium.
Randy Weaver agrees with this post.
