One of Mexico's largest cities was transformed into a scene straight out of winter Sunday when a freak hailstorm dropped a deluge of ice that left streets impassable and cars buried.
The hailstorm in Guadalajara, located north of Mexico City, came after several days during which temperatures approached 90 degrees.
"I've never seen such scenes in Guadalajara," State Governor Enrique Alfaro said on Twitter.
Residents across the city of around five million woke up Sunday morning to discover mounds of ice up to five feet deep in places from the overnight storm, Agence France-Presse reported.

The same climate change that been happening for 4.6 billion years. But this is the new and improved version which is going to end the world in 12 years unless we give AOC all the money and power she wants.
5 feet of ice seems a bit farfetched. Probably not the doing of mother nature but instead where city crews piled it up after clearing off a sidewalk or plaza or something.
Probably inches of sleet and not feet.
The hyperbolic pictures you are seeing are places where sleet collected after heavy rain washed away the sleet.
I lived in Guadalajara one summer in the 80s. It rained every day at either 5 pm or 1 a.m. The 1 a.m. rain was usually a noisy thunderstorm. The timing of things, though, was very predictable and civilized. And the suburban streets, lined with jacarandas, were beautiful.
didn’t you get the memo? It’s no longer climate change, it is now ‘climate crisis’
