Dems are going to set old Uncle Joe up in a trailer, out in the back yard.
Bubba Clinton can visit, sit out on the porch with him.

KEEP THE KIDS AWAY.

I’ve known too many whom you would never guess were gay; as well as some men who are perceived as somewhat effeminate but are happily married to women, and are fathers.

That’s not even starting on the few asexuals.

You mean like Obama? A repressed homosexual
will show female gestures, language, facile
expressions and more. Yet not be consciously
be attracted to other men, which is bizarre,
unless you can wrap your head around the notion
of there being such a thing as unconscious
attraction.

No; there are lots of men whom you may think are gay, but are not. There have been a couple in my circle - and even the gays’ own ‘gaydar’ had it wrong.

(I’m not concerned with ‘repression’ or whatever else may be going on in an individual’s inner psychology. I just care how they conduct themselves in society.)

I’m not saying they are gay. Their homosexuality is suppressed, but it reveals itself in female mannerisms.

40 years ago I worked as a waitress at an actor’s hotel in NYC. The rest of the wait staff were a bunch of gay guys. They took me everywhere and talked openly about their love lives. They all wanted to be the one to give room service to Robert DeNiro, who lived there. No one made fun of the gay waiters. They were the norm. 40 years ago.

Biden probably meant it would have been acceptable for him, before he flip-flopped. I think his “gaffes” often are just revolutions of the inner Joe. People rarely change their opinions; they just get more careful about what they say. Unless they’re idiots and can’t control what say.

I’m wondering how that goes for females. I was considered rather strange when I was young - neighbors said, ‘that kid walks like a boy’- and to this day I scorn some of the ‘stuff’ that I find typical of others of my sex. But I grew up pretty boy-crazy.

It’s stupid to make assumptions from things like “gestures”. They can result from all sorts of influences, some that we probably can’t even trace. You may be correct a lot of the time, but very wrong the rest.

As I moved about my section I listened carefully to the chatter at my tables, listening for clues about my customers that would help me give them better service. Good service meant better tips and I wasn’t there for fun! I also over time noticed trends in demographics and tipping. It was an interesting experience.

They might be out to get him, but they are not going to work too hard to do it.

I don’t disbelieve you or impugn your motives. I was merely stating my experiences. But as you say you could be waiting on one table and listening to conversation at one adjacent.

” Wow...I was a waiter a quarter of a century ago and it wasn’t acceptable. And we had several on the staff at the time. I don’t recall any of them being made fun of. People were generally polite back then. “

Well, I remember being an unusually straight singing waiter back 40 years ago, when at least half the cast was gay; I can’t count the number of times one of the gay cast would come back to the kitchen in a panic, pleading, “Oh, I can’t possibly serve that table—they’re such FLAMING queens—I mean, Oooohhh m’ GAWD...could you, please...? “. I never had a problem with the customers except the occasional inquiry about my tendencies and polite acceptance of my non-flamingness, and I generally got pretty decent tips.

Making fun of a gay waiter FIVE YEARS AGO? SERIOUSLY JOE???? OMG.

Five years, fifty years, all the same to Grandpa Joe. Uncle Joe would have had more sense.

“How many straight waiters in Seattle does it take to screw in a light bulb?”

Both of them.
