The idea that American taxpayers ought to pay for free medical care for anyone who manages to cross our border is mind-bogglingly stupid, guaranteed to drive away the swing voters Democrats need to win the presidency.
Yet it received unanimous support last night at the second Democratic presidential debate. Given the poor state of health of poor people from third-world countries, their per person yearly health care costs would be higher than for the average American, and we can't afford to provide taxpayer-funded health care for all of our own without busting the budget.
Moreover, the offer would act as a magnet and, when combined with the insane plan to decriminalize illegal border crossings — backed by 8 of 10 Dems last night — could easily add tens of millions more illegals over the years, bankrupting us and changing the nature of our populace.

I think the answer lies on a fatal mistake that they made in the frenzied atmosphere of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Once they embraced the bullying tactics of the hard-left progs when applied to Trump, the GOP, and conservatives, they opened Pandora's box. The radical wing of the Democrats shouts the loudest and has been paid enough deference by the politicians of its party that the progs feel perfectly comfortable attacking any Democrats who do not hew to their extreme policy preferences.

2008 — Obama wants to provide healthcare coverage for poor Americans
2009 — Will illegal aliens be included? Obama unequivocally says “NO”.
2018 — Democrats push Medicare For All US Citizens — no private health insurance. Just have the government take care of all citizens.
2019 — Democrats unanimously agree that Illegal Immigrants should also receive “free” healthcare.
If they did not, it would be the end of the campaign.

I disagree - It would have been a game changer for the candidate with the guts to go along with common sense. As it was, it shows that all of these twerps are in the deep pockets of the deep pockets.

He was severely chastised for that outburst, by Bush League Republicans including Flimsey Grahamnesty.
If Grahamnesty is re-elected he has said he will keep working on getting amnesty for illegal aliens, like he has since 2006.
I dont think they particularly care about illegal immigrants outside of getting them out of their countries to free up farmland for grabby investors as well as for the remittances sent back home. There is a lot of money to be made providing healthcare, and these bastards think they have found a deep pocket since the government will make up the difference. Do they care about running the U.S. into the ground? About as much as an 80’s corporate raider maybe.

These “poor” refugee people are no dummies. They know the US provides the greatest number of freebies of any country in the world for foreign migrants with the fewest requirements - in many cases - no requirements. If they can get into the country they have it made for life. - no workee, no problema!!!!
Their constituency is to the extreme left now. Even Biden is now considered “too centrist.”
They want a socialist progressive that believes in globalism and open borders. Free healthcare and free education for even non-citizens. Just anyone in the world just walk in and get everything for free paid for by taxpayers.
And the sad thing is...half the country is on their side. The youth is heavily indoctrinated. And the blue states see no problem letting illegals vote. And the GOP in Congress don’t seem to care one bit.
This country as we know it is literally hanging by a thread.
The welfare state needs clients to grow. The more the better. Every new client provides even more revenue to the welfare bureaucrats.
