"First bilingual presidential debate as three candidates and a moderator speak in Spanish
by Zachary Halaschak | June 26, 2019 10:10 PM
By the half-way point of the first Democratic presidential debate, three candidates and one moderator had spoken in Spanish, some attempts more fluent than others.
The bilingual gambits began with former Texas Rep. Beto ORourke, who for his first question began by speaking his second language.
O'Rourke, 46, was responding to a question about whether he would support a marginal individual 70% tax rate on highest earners. He responded in Spanish translated to: We need to include everyone in the success of this economy. But, if we want to do this, we have to include everyone in our democracy. Every voter needs representation, and every voice must be listened to.

What if a candidate and moderator started to converse about policy in Chinese (the 3rd most spoken language in the U.S.)? Even more people in this country would be clueless about what was being discussed.
Is this a good thing for our country, that an increase in difference in language is occurring? Does this make us more united?

Priming the illegals who will vote next year.
And half of them can't vote because they are here illegally.
I speak Italian among friends sometimes, who speak it fluently.
One group of friends does, one group of friends speaks none.
It has NEVER occurred to me in ANY WAY that it is the language I would consider primary.
EVER.
In fact, it’s ABSURD.
Father and mom’s parents STOPPED speaking it as soon as they knew enough English because they said “we’re in America now!!!”
Such Pride to be here like you never saw in my grandmother’s eyes!!!!
With an accent she would say “I’m an American now!”
Are they running for president of Mexico?
The coming election will be about America, Her language, Her laws, and the American Constitution. Tonight's line up of contenders for potus...mentioned none of the latter...IMHO.
Half illegal? More likely about 80%. I say boot all 53 million from the country. Unless you are a 1800s land-grand family (which should speak English by now), the only people legitimately speaking Spanish in the US are in Puerto Rico and shame on us for not converting them to English when we got the island from Spain. Bet it would be a better and different place if they spoke English.
Pander, pander, pander. The language of the modern Dem party (pandering that is, not Spanish).
Pendejos
US citizens speak English.
They are pandering to fraudulently documented foreigners who can’t vote legally.
Welcome to North Mexico.
“Are they running for president of Mexico?”
They should be. All of them are eager to put Mexico’s interests above that of the United States. Not a single Dem candidate could ever be trusted to put the interests of the Americans citizens they are supposed to be representing first. Most of them clearly put average, every-day Americans at the bottom of the barrel and have a great deal of open contempt for us.
Really funny:
“bilingual”!
LOL!
Well, then, there you are!
America is one of the few countries in the world which does not have an official language.
Democrats have blocked English as an official language so many times that the subject is not even brought up anymore!
BTW, naturalized citizens are supposed to be able to read, write and speak English!
They are doing naturalization ceremonies in Spanish, now!
It may be too late to save America, but we damn sure have to try!
Deport.
