President Trump on Monday said he would make a nomination to the Supreme Court if there's a vacancy anytime before the 2020 presidential election.
“Would I do that? Of course,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with The Hill when asked if he would try to fill a high court vacancy during election season.
The position is an apparent reversal for the president, who as a candidate in 2016 backed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) decision to block President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the high court.
But the president denied that his position was an about-face, since Republicans control both the Senate and the White House.
“They couldn’t get him approved. That’s the other problem because they didn’t have the Senate. If they had the Senate, they would have done it,” Trump said of the Democrats.
“It depends. I mean, we have the Senate. We have a great Senate. We have great people. If we could get him approved, I would definitely do it. No, I’d do it a lot sooner than that. I’d do it. If there were three days left, I’d put somebody up hoping that I could get ‘em done in three days, OK?” he continued.

Is this maybe a signal, that if Ruth Bader Ginsburg or other liberals plan to retire this time next year, that Trump will nominate their replacements?
And that could actually encourage them to retire now, instead of holding on to hope a democrat wins the 2020 election to be the one to replace them.
I love how McConnell used the Biden Rule against the Democrats, and now have no thoughts of abiding by it since it’s not a law anyway. It’s the ultimate middle finger to the face of the Left.
