President Trump in an interview airing Sunday characterized national security adviser John Bolton as "a hawk" who would "take on the whole world at one time."
When asked by Chuck Todd on NBC's "Meet the Press" about whether he felt he was being "pushed" into conflict with Iran by others in his administration, Trump said that he had both doves and hawks in his Cabinet.
"John Bolton is absolutely a hawk. If it was up to him he'd take on the whole world at one time," Trump said. "But that doesn't matter because I want both sides."

I don’t like Bolton at all. If, heaven forbid, he were president, we really would be fighting wars everywhere.
But Trump’s statement here is VERY clever. It will keep Iran guessing.
Wrong.
If it was up to Bolton, he'd send a bunch of other Americans to take on the whole world at one time.
There's something absolutely repulsive about draft-dodgers sending other people to fight their stupid wars for them.
This fits fully with my understanding of the intended role of Bolton: to be the “bad cop” bad enough that our foes rush to Trump to make a deal.
Bolton is a valuable asset to President Trumps advisory team.
President Trump is not short on wisdom.
Trump has a bunch of war Hawks around him making Trump’s way the alternative. I think it is smart. People are worried to have tough people around Trump because they think he can be bullied. If it’s not obvious yet: he can’t be bullied. Paris Accord, Climate change, TPP and war. Trump doesn’t hide from opposing views. He empowers them. A sign of confidence and great leadership

There are some here on this very board that think he ought to have a bunch of ‘peaceniks’ only on staff (driven by the ‘winds’ of the media, I think); I like a variety of opinions too, especially when it comes to the subject of national defense.
“Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer”!
Throwing Spaghetti on the wall is good.
More noodles, more solutions cause some spaghetti just isnt ready yet.
In what way is Bolton valuable?
I am starting to appreciate the way that Trump doesn’t engage in the fiction that everyone who works for him (us) agrees 100% with his stand. Normally, underlings are told to toe the party line, shut up or resign. Trump gives them room to have personalities, while maintaining command, but not playing the kabuki theatre thing of everyone being in perfect harmony all the time. It wouldn’t work with a weaker man.
Iran will expend a lot of energy on high alert or sleeping with one eye open.
That may cause more damage than an immediate counterstrike
In what way is Bolton valuable?
Differing viewpoints from Advisors, not the Yes Men “Emperor with no Clothes” Advisors that Obama surrounded himself with.
You do realize he is a very active neocon wolf in MAGA sheep’s clothing, don’t you?
What I don't like is someone who (1) personifies the very "Swamp" that Donald Trump promised to drain, and (2) has a long track record as a globalist ... serving in a position where he is privy to highly classified information.
Someone who fits this description simply should not be trusted.
Bolton is an absolute lunatic. And lets not forget, he joined a national guard unit specifically to get out of being sent to Vietnam because he quote “didn’t want to die in an asian paddy field”.
A “National Security Advisor” who has spent decades in Washington without so much as uttering a peep about dealing with an invasion of 100,000+ Third World peasants pouring across our southern border every month might well be the worst example of a Swamp bureaucrat who is useless at best and a malignant traitor at worst.
>>>You do realize he is a very active neocon wolf in MAGA sheeps clothing, dont you?<<<
Yes, I certainly do and POTUS Trump apparently knows it.
It doesn’t mean that his opinion should not be part of the discussion though. If only the Doves have a say, we will end up being the Surrender Monkey that Obama wanted us to be.
Imagine the Pallets of Cash that would be flowing to every one of Enemies so they will be nice to us, with their Boots on our Neck of course.
Interview underscores President Trump’s brilliance. A good leader hears from all sides before making a decision.
