“He is being reasonable, but not giving up the plan.”
Agreed! However, The Nattering Neighbobs of Negativity will be here in 3...2...1...
*SMIRK* :)
You mean the ones that believe enforcing the law is not a bargaining chip? How stupid are you trumpbots?
Yup, Trump is wimping out - NOT! This is the first President I've seen in my life since Pres. Reagan who knows how to play chess, rather than checkers.
I agree that Trump hasn’t given anything up, but perhaps he should have taken the position that there will be no slowdown in deportations until Congress passes a plan that Trump’s base will approve.
So-its being negative to think that congress-as divided as it is now-can solve something in two weeks that it hasnt in 4 decades? Ok. How about its just being realistic? Can we agree on that? We will see if these roundups ever happen at all.
I don’t think he should have announced raids in the first place: Just do them.
And it is dreaming to think that Congress is going to act on ANY immigration control in two weeks.
I sure as hell hope I am wrong.
But I am bookmarking this thread for two weeks.
OK, Ok..... Am I a nattering naybob?
My question is that given the presented status of those selected for deportation.... what is a bipartizen effort going to gin up to change the law to prevent the deportation of those who already had their day in court and lost?
I don’t understand the reason for this presidential gambit.
I interpret it as a fork. The president announces he is going to conduct a roundup (one prong). Then he announces he called it off. ( prong two)
While prong one is in abeyance, the congress either acts or it does not. . (subprongs 3 and 4)Regardless, the president wins the second fork by getting the desired action or getting no action which is a point of severe criticism of democrats.
Then, once prong two is played out, he can and in fact must resume the actions of fork prong 1.
win, win
