Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador convened a special legislative session to hold the vote after the Senate convened in April..The USMCA is synonymous with opportunity in the short and long term, Mexican Sen. Verónica Martínez García said of the pact.
Canada has already introduced legislation through its parliament to ratify the agreement and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to lobby Democrats to support the USMCA during his visit to Washington, D.C., this week.
Meanwhile, the deal is running into some roadblocks , Speaker Nancy Pelosi has the authority to bring legislation on the matter before the chamber, but has expressed hesitation about the deal, which she says lacks adequate mechanisms to enforce its labor and environmental provisions.
If the agreement between the three North American countries gets finalized, it will replace NAFTA, which was established in 1994.

It isn’t a treaty. It is a trade agreement.
And when both Canada and Mexico passes it, then what is Pelosi going to do?
If jimrob paid better wages for posters, you could hold them to higher standards. Probably smart to not shoot messengers (posters) or they may not contribute the post next time.
They played “Island” by Gerry Rafferty - now that’s a deep track (from the “City to City” album)
I think that’s why Trudeu is meeting with her during his visit. .....Nancy is all about throwing her own power around and stopping anything Trump does. It’s all power plays for her......if she can take down Trump and Pence she’s next in line for the Presidency.
A New President helps...one who understands Trumps not playing games but wants ‘fair’ deals.
One of the best albums ever. Baker Street is a classic with perfect production, vocals, and music. So sad Gerry succumbed to the Irish disease.
...” Correct usage dictates the acronym is placed in parenthesis after the full name is written out”.....
However FR Admin. says we have to use the Title given in the article ‘As IS’.
USMCA - United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement
“Please define what the acronym stands for. It may seem obvious, but not to everyone. Correct usage dictates the acronym is placed in parenthesis after the full name is written out.
“
I hear you and normally agree. However in this case I would think any FReeper could figure out what USMCA stands for. Shirley you can?
My name is not “Shirley.” The point was posting it correctly, something you missed.
According to the article...”Pelosi has the authority to bring legislation on the matter before the chamber”.
Anyone who posts here who does not know what the USMCA is, is either dumb or trolling for a rise.
An excerpt is something you excerpt, or pluck out, from a larger piece.
Go troll Zachary Halaschak. We are not in the mood.
Shirley you jest.
“Anyone who posts here who does not know what the USMCA is, is either dumb or trolling for a rise.”
If you can’t figure out what USMCA stands for you are not too smart. :-)
If you dont know what the USMCA is you are terribly uninformed. I mean it has been in the headlines for months. Many many months.
Uninformed is fixable. I find it bizarre someone could not figure out that acronym on their own.
Mexico becomes first country to pass USMCA. Mexico’s Senate on Wednesday passed the USMCA, making it the first country to ratify the new North American ‘TRADE’ pact.
