Washington (CNN)The US is escalating cyber attacks on Russia's electric power grid and has placed potentially crippling malware inside the Russian system, The New York Times reported Saturday.
The placement of the malware that deep within the Russian grid had never previously been attempted, the Times reports, and is intended partly as a warning and also to put the US in a position to conduct cyber attacks should a significant conflict arise with Russia.
Two administration officials told the Times they believed President Donald Trump had not been briefed in any detail about the US computer code being implanted inside the Russian grid.
Pentagon and intelligence officials describe to the Times "broad hesitation" to tell Trump about the details of the operations against Russia. They tell the Times there was concern over how Trump would react, and the possibility that Trump might reverse the operations or discuss it with foreign officials.
In 2017, Trump shared highly classified information with the Russian foreign minister and Russian ambassador to the US in a White House meeting, The Washington Post first reported and CNN later confirmed.

I would not put it past some, and thus both these officials and the traitorous NYT are telling Putin state secrets, while the NYT is an accuser of collusion with Russia by Trump. Enemies, foreign and domestic.

I would not be surprised at all if an obama era homo officer is in the shadows trying to pull something that he knows will back fire and Trump will get the blame. The deep state praetorians are so arrogant they could easily do this stunt and start a war. My question is what can Trump trust when these same praetorians present him intel. They have screwed up numerous times and got thousands of Americans killed with no consequences. They have shown contempt for the rule of law and the American people. These people are who will allow the left to institute their totalitarian form of government and they will become the NKVD and KGB and the back room politburo picking who rules. These traitors are the most dangerous threat to the republic since the civil war.

Yet H.R. McMaster stated, "At no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed and the President did not disclose any military operations that weren't already publicly known," he said. "I was in the room. It didn't happen." Tillerson stated, "During that exchange the nature of specific threats were discussed, but they did not discuss sources, methods or military operations."
Dina Powell, White House deputy national security adviser for strategy, who also attended the meeting, said: "This story is false. The President only discussed the common threats that both countries faced," in a statement provided by Spicer.
Yet when the NYT discloses highly classified information with the Russians then it is honorable journalism.
Brennan still has his security clearance, and he still is an inveterate deep stater and a liar.
I work in military cyber. I’m not involved with offensive operations, but I know the people who are and I’m pretty familiar with some of the ins and outs.

Thanks for the info. I can imagine a NYT reporter being contacted by somebody who has a job in the pentagon but does not understand what cyber ops is really doing. Assuming that the reporter had such a contact, that contact should be in real legal jeopardy. Or, as you suggest, maybe the NYT just invented the whole thing.
The NYT and Dems just made this up, trying to hurt President Trump.
